do you ride when traveling across country. For me and the wife it is comfortable to do 500 mile days unless we are sight seeing. How about you?

I'd concur. That's a pretty reasonable travel distance for one day's ride; but like you said - not a lot of stopping or sightseeing. Just touring, my longest day was 509 mi from Grand Junction, CO to ABQ, NM (via Moab, UT / Ship Rock & Farmington, NM).

Nah never had. I've read about them, but I really like to stop a relax, take my fold out chair, take my thermos out, nap, etc.....find someone to chew the fat with.

Course now I'll be going to Phoenix in a few weeks, depending on the time I have I might have to put the hammer down.

Nahhhh, there isn't much sign where Katrina came thru except right on the coast from Alabama to La. It's still shocking to ride down the Miss. coast. I had friends with businesses over there that started all over again. Course the casino are up and going.

Strider, I USED to have a boney butt, but at my age, that's long gone. I should have bought the pillow seats, but I wanted to keep the studs and bought the other one. Dumb!

I keep pushing back and sticking the seat ridge against my rear, and eventually, it starts rubbing me wrong. I should move my highway pegs farther forward, and I wouldn't have that problem. I'll probably do that before I leave for Salida. I also have to get a backrest. After all, I can't nap without my backrest! :D

cushion on the seat

One thing that makes a big difference is one of those gel packs you can put on the seat. Course I didn't like the price, about $80. So what I did, and this is going to tell how cheap I am. I went to Academy Sports to the bicycle dept. and bought two gel pack cover seats and sewed them together. Works fine for $20.00 and it makes a big difference.

My backrest is my cooler with a cushion sewed onto it.

And the miles just click on by.

Pad for the cooler

Been busy just sold my Hooker exhaust and had to ship em.

I used the wrong term for my back cushion. You know those nets with 6 hooks you can use to stretch over a helmet or anything you want to strap down to the passenger's seat. I hook the net from the front saddle bag bars over the cooler and hook the sissy bar. I put the cushion between me and the cooler. I send a pic.

Thanks

What you don't see is, I inserted a plastic tupperware with a bi fold top inside to keep the soft cooler from colapsing. Otherwise just about all soft coolers leak. I can put ice and whatever in the bttm half and anything else I want on top. Never leaks!
