Default Igniter for 2002 trophy 1200

Hi, all: I'm in need, I'm afraid, of a Trophy igniter (ceu); part # T1290072. If anone knows where to find one, please let me know.

Thanks in advance, for any help: Jim

The Triumph dealership doesn't carry them?

Hello again: Sorry to reply so slowly, but I had hand surgery the other day and it was a "bear" trying to type and use the mouse with numb fingers and thick gauze padding on my palm. Anyway, the bike is at the dealer, where it's been since the incident. I did tip it at a dead stop as my foot got caught on something and I couldn't free it in time to stop the fall. The dealer has checked for fuel problems and all the switches, but it will still stall at an idle or shut down and immediately "bump start" itself if going along; it doesn't do it when it's warmed up (or very rarely) as I rode it home from the incident and had only one "glitch" at low speed. The igniter is where they want to go and are willing to let me find a good used one (hopefully) as the new ones are about $800, but I'm sure that they won't fool around with an aftermarket, unfortunately. Another dealer also felt that this problem is in the igniter, as well. So, my quandary: I really love that bike and it's all repaired along with a new tire, fork seals (needed to pass state inspection) plus chain and sprockets. No parts have been removed and changed yet. I planned on this being my last year with the bike as my spinal stenosis and arthritis, to name a couple, are dictating a lighter lower bike. If I have to, I'm going to put the money into it and get another year out of it. NOW, if someone in the New England area is interested in a very nice Trophy and has some electrical skills, it can be purchased; but I'm not going to "give it away" as it has a lot of extras and new parts on it. Anyway, any more ideas and thoughts are gratefully appreciated.
Thanks again, in advance: Jim

Have they tested the ECU with a scan tool, I would think if its hooked up during the problem they could see some cut out in one of the outputs? They usually dont go bad, and given the location I dont see how engine heat can affect them much at all. If that thing is bad, it should be dead.

Have they checked the wire loom from the ignition switch or handle bar switches? Some have been know to wear through the insulation, corrode and short to the frame this can be intermittent based on location of the loom and handle bars. I had this problem on my sprint, had to cut the jacket off to find the problem, but sure enough, bare corroded wire. I had similar symptoms.

Have they checked the cam position sensor? Those have been known to get out of adjustment. Idle stepper motor, has it been checked?

Frustrating I know, but Im sure if your persistant and keep looking youll find it. Good luck.

Hi, Newport: Long story short, it turned out to be the coils............acting opposite of the way that they should have when misfiring, i.e., good when warm and bad when cold. Nology coils solved the problem. However, having spent the summer riding my Virago and '70 Tiger, I came to the conclusion that my back and legs, which are now 10 years older than when I bought it, needed something lower and lighter; I'm now the proud owner of a 2012 T100 Bonneville..........fell in love with it on the dealerships show floor. They gave me a decent trade on the 1200 and I'm more than happy with it.
Thanks for getting back to me: Jim

Glad to hear things worked out, thanks for letting us know the solution to your problem, that one will go into the data base for future reference. I too am finding that the ST ergonomics are not for my aging body, I looked at a couple of BMW's this weekend will probably pull the trigger on one early next week. See you on the road.
