When it comes to the best bike i would go with the goldwing or the dn-01, its driving feeling must be the best made in a factory. But it depends on how you look at it, if you want a racing bike with lots of accleration an feeling it would be the cbr 600rr or the fireblade.

Probably have to go with the CBs, like so many others, particularly the 750 and 450 Black Bomber.

1997 Valkyrie - what a machine! 2008 Goldwing - 2 wheel Cadillac 1979 CBX - cops pulled me over just to count the cylinders 1994 CBR600 - great power, handling & brakes 2004 Rune - one off custom cruiser 1975 CB750 - Apricot Flake Red, just restored 1971 CB175 - 1st bike I had, really brings back the memories. Its in the que to be restored, fall/2012 |

Hmmmm... best bike Honda ever made? So many choices out there. I cannot remember what my previous post here stated as best by Honda, but as of now, I have to say that I think the Shadow is the best ride Honda made. Specifically, the 750 ACE models seem to be the best of the breed in my opinion.
The 1100 Shadows were physically larger and heavier. More so than I think they increased power. And the smaller versions, well, they just do not have the same power capabilities as a 750cc bike would have. Now, let us look at why I think the American Classic Edition versions were better than the rest. Duel Carbed. Airflow is important for power, and the duel carbs just seem to have more potential for airflow into the engine, especially with a good aftermarket intake. (and exhaust matched to the intake) Peg positioning. The pegs on the 750 ACE are about 1 1/2 inches back from where they are on most other Shadows. Now, a lot of riders mount forward controls on the ACE, but if you have a 30" inseam (like me) or less, then the ACE's pegs will be better positioned in my opinion. Handling. The Honda Shadow is one of the best handling cruisers out there, and the ones with a 120 tire on the front are VERY stable. Now, put Pirelli MT66 tires on it next time you need tires, and put drag bars on it, and you will transform it's handling. It will still feel quite stable, but due to body positioning and the fact that the MT66 tire is a bit lighter and has a subtly different shape to its profile, it will corner MUCH easier and feel like you CONTROL the corner. (it will NOT be turned into a CBR-600 lol but it will feel as if it handles better than a cruiser has a right to handle) Maintainence. A Shadow is actually a very easy bike to work on. You dont have to pull the engine to do a valve job, and I believe you can even pull the heads while the engine is still in the frame. Not many bikes out there that allow you to do that!

Old thread needs reviving...want to add my 2 cents: If old school simple, reliability, cost, almost bullet proof; then the CM200T prior to 1981. Points, mechanical brakes, 6V simple, low cost, $40 year insurance, kick and electric start, cheap parts, looks good, etc. Fun. Anyone with an ounce of mechanical ability can work on it. Great little urban commuter.

CL 350 or Enduro. They work great as a dual purpose bike. (Even though I own a CB 350.

I've read and heard that Honda had trouble with the V65 Magna's from the mid 80's (lack of lubrication to the crankshaft?), but they're still my favorite Honda of all time. I wasn't even riding back then, but loved the raw power and sport/cruiser styling of that bike--not to mention that it held the world record for fastest production motorcycle for a few years (84-87?). The V65 Magna may not be the BEST Honda of all time, but it's certainly my favorite...and nothing has replaced it yet.

Actually, I believe it was a camshaft issue with the V-65

1969 Honda 750 With out this bike we would not have any modern sports bikes. It was the beginning of the mass produced sports bikes IMHO

What put Honda on the map? Without a doubt it was the 1969 CB750. It was revolutionary. What is the product they have that no one else has been able to offer? Beats me. I don't care about new bikes.

The Honda Trail 90.
First produced in 1964. Displacement increased to 110cc in 1980. STILL in production today, 48 years later! (but you can't buy 'em in the US, dammit!)

What put Honda on the map...get real, it was the CA95 Benly Dreams from '59-'66!
Here is my '63 Baby Dream version...all 150cc's in one great art deco package...may be the most popular restored cycle in recent history; fender flares, square shocks, rock reliable, etc....: ![]() Last edited by 1911tex; 08-07-2012 at 07:25 PM.. |

I have to agree on the CB750. I am especially fond of mine. I am going to miss her but there just isn't enough room in the garage for two bikes.
