Default NJ Delaware Watergap Recreation area

A video of my third visit to the area, great place to ride, nice combinations of pavement, gravel and dirt, something for every rider. Lots of fun!

Thanks for visiting.

Just watched your video. Love it! Great choice of music too!
I live a few miles east of the Watergap.
Could you write a detailed route of what roads you took
on that ride?
I don't have a GPS, so I'd appreciate just a simple
set of directions.
Thanks!!!

Offcenter, Thanks for the kind words! So here is the route, I live in Bloomingdale NJ, right were rt23 and 287 intersect. I took 23 north to Munsonhurst road Route 517, follow that to Route 15 north.
Route 15 and 206 intersect and pretty much turns into 206. Continue north up past Culver Lake
You are going to look for Struble Road on your left, entrance to stokes forest (this is where the ride starts to get fun) As you go down Struble road you will see the lakes I started filming from. Nice road lots of places to stop and explore. Struble will turn into Dimon road continue to follow it, large pot holes along this stretch, highlighted with white paint!
Dimon road will dead end into Tillman, I went right and continued on that way
You will come to a 4 way intersection with a cemetary on your far left, turn left on Brook /Mountain (my gps said mountain, google earth says Brook) This is a dirt road, very pretty ride! When you get in about 4 miles you will come to Buttermilk falls, worthwhile place to stop and take a break. I continued past the falls, you will soon come to a bridge ( took photos there) Just before the bridge there is a trail going up to the left, that is where I ran into the bear, that just goes back a ways and dead ends, but still fun to ride. When you go over the bridge you have to turn left, right turn was closed, in about a mile maybe two you are back on pavement, really nice road there were some trails off of this, but I was out of time and start heading back home. It was along here that I ran into the hawk and stopped to photograph the abandoned barn. If you make a day of your ride make you way a little further west and ride Old Mine Road! The part I have enjoyed the most was to pick up off 206 in Milton and just follow it south, there are a few turn offs into dirt that will take you back a ways!
Here is a video of some of that ride.
Let me know when you might go, if you would like someone to ride with I would be up for it.

Hey John! Thanks for the directions!
When you came out 517 to Rt 15, you were only four
miles from me. I'm right off of Rt 15 near Lake Hopatcong,
just east of that intersection.
About riding together....at the moment I'm riding an old
Honda Trail 90 that I've been restoring. A whopping 90cc engine with SEVEN hp on a good day. Can't go on any
highways with it. Since it only goes about 45, (50 downhill)
I'd get run over. I don't know if you'd want to put up with
waiting for me as I climb hills at 25 to 30.
However, it IS supposed to be one of the best trail bikes
ever made and I'm eager to try it out on those dirt roads
as soon as I iron out a few more bugs in it.
Here's a picture:

Got a question for you....you say in the video that your bike
is a Kawasaki KLR, but in the video I clearly see the
BMW roundel on the side. What's with that?
I'm an old BMW guy. Still have my '74 R90/6 that I bought
NEW, waiting restoration one of these days when I save
up some money to put into it.
Stay in touch, John.

the "BMW roundel" is from KLR650.net web site, forum site very much like this one. I really dont understand it other than BMW guys pretty much think their dual sports are the only ones that can do that kind of thing. My brother owns a BMW Dakar 650, nice bike, but he has that mindset, unfortunately he lives in CA and we cant ride together much! I have learned a great deal about the KLR from the site, so I promote it when possible.
that 74 sounds like a really great project!!

I may be willing to meet you out on the trail, lets see if we can figure it out.

Ok John. Look forward to meeting you. By the way, do you
ever come up to Bike Night on Thursdays at the Chatterbox on Rt 15 where
it meets rt 206? That's not far from me and I've been riding
the little Honda up there a bit lately. Will probably be there
tomorrow night, Thursday.

Hope you enjoyed your camping trip, John.
I didn't make it to bike night 'cause it was threatening rain.
Maybe next Thursday.

Great! If it's nice Thursday, I plan on being there.
You can't mistake my bike. It's the only one of it's type around.
