Default Advanced Riding Instruction

I just signed up for the MSF Basic Riding 2 class, formerly known as the Advanced Riding class.

Should be fun. Has anyone else taken this? What can I expect? This is the one where you use your own bike.

I haven't taken it yet (probably will this fall) but my understanding is that it is the the riding portion of the BRC just on your own bike and grading more stringently. In fact, at a local community college, if you want to take the Experienced Riders Course, they have you sign up for the Alternative Basic Riders Course (the one for people with experience and who know how to ride but don't have their license) and just let them know you'll be taking it as the ERC with your own bike.

I took it a few weeks ago.

Although a lot of it mirrors the BRC, you do it with your own bike. So while the BRC was on a 250, I did the advanced course on a 1400. I think it was worth the money.

Anything that helps make me a better rider...

I took the advanced class 3 years ago on my VTX, and enjoyed it. Just basic cone weaves, braking drills and "The box". The only thing I did to prepare is practice figure 8's.
I'm not sure of your experience level, but if you can do the box the rest is cake.

Took the class this morning. Went well. As as stated by others it was pretty much the same drills as the basic class, just on my bike. Good class, but nothing really new.

I think I am going to look around for a track day, or beginning racing school. I am looking for more than just low speed parking lot drills. Possibly a school that teaches police motor officers to ride.

I'm not sure but I think the guys who taught my BRC and ARC also teach Boston cops riding techniques. You should check with your instructors.
