I once ran over a squirrel, does that count? Didn't take him home and eat him though. Left him for the Harley rider behind me.

Haven't hunted since college in '89. Moved out east and it was a real hassle...and I was over hunting anyway.
I never hunted for the right reasons, so....I don't anymore. |

Anybody ever do a photo hunt? I've always wanted to try that. It would be cool to stalk the prey in competition with other hunters. The best/closest photo wins.
I have nothing against the normal hunting, it's just that I cannot use what I kill (live in a condo with my teenage son). |

I am someone might have tried that somewhere. nothing wrong with someone not hunting but i have to ask what does living in a condo have to do with not using what you have killed?

I don't have anywhere to keep it! Back in the day with a second freezer, maybe...
If I was with someone who could keep it and just have me take a bit, it would be great. Right now, I can barely keep my MC equipment, bicycle, assorted sports gear, etc. No room for rifles, etc. Heck, I was just making phone calls yesterday to give away fishing gear! |

I like small game hunting best. I like to get up and walk around, push through thick brush, watch other hunters and try to figure were to be if they miss a pheasant.
I was sent out for Snipe 30 years ago. Still looking. ![]()

about 3 years ago I went on my last hunt (maybe for ever, I'm still scared).. Cape Buffalo in Tanzania; I got a charge and it took two from my .460 weatherby and one from the PF's Lott 458 to down that damn thing.... I was never so scared in my life. Makes bear hunting look like a coon hunting.

I am... pictures are in non-digital format as the PH does the photo's and provides them as part of the package (a way to make more money from the hunters) and they show my face which I'd rather keep of the internet.. meet me for a coffee in Portland and I'll be happy share them..

I do not see anything R1200.
I hunt reactive targets for the time being. I want to go hunting sometime soon, although only black powder rifles are legal in my state... I would love to bag a deer and fill my freezer up a bit more.

I hunt deer, small game and turkey. I fill the weekends in between with ground hogs (I make dog food out of it, my dog goes nutzo for it), riding my bike and lots of fishing.
I hunt mainly with my bow (except during the 2 week Rifle deer season). It's way more challenging to hit a squirrel @ 25 yds with a bow than a shotgun.

Yes, dog food. I put it in a crock pot when I leave for work in the morning. When I get home, I pull it off the bones and put it in the freezer. For her [the dog] supper, I mix it 50/50 with her dry food. It serves two purposes:
1) reduces crop damage on my dads farm 2) reduces my pet food cost It also is a lot of fun. Sitting there at the picnic table with a beer, rifle and a pair of binos. We (my son and I) take turns thumping them. I've been told ground hogs are very tasty, I just haven't been "hungry" enough to try one. I don't like killing a critter just to kill it or as a means of pest control, so feeding it to my dog is the best way to avoid wasting the edible meat.
