These are great looking bikes... I'm really considering adding one to my garage in the spring. I'd like to save some of the wear and tear on my Buell and I can't think of a better way to do that than with a VROD!!!

Yep; I agree with others here that its a great looking bike. The only issue I have with this model is the "C" riding position where your leaned far forward to get the bars and the controls are forward as well. I heard that for 2012 they brought the bars and the foot controls back a little to soften the "C" riding position.

Thank you! oh man..I LOVE it. mind you I know this isnt a sport bike or anything but its freakin fast. and its so smooth, and VERY quiet. Not what I expected at all, am looking into some aftermarket pipes though

I know what you mean, luckily what you heard is right, they changed the ergos on the '12 Night Rod Special ONLY. I was considering getting the Muscle, but once I sat on the NRS I was sold. Its a prettty comfortable bike, and with the lighter wheels and updated suspension/fork it handles pretty well compared to other V Rods.

Beautiful bike ... yeah, I'm jealous.

I was wondering about the comfort of the riding position also -- and how about the seat?

I've got the 48 and was considering something else for longer rides. I don't personally go for the big bagger look. I'd like to hear how your bike is on the long hauls.

Congrats.

If your considering a Harley for longer rides and the Touring line is out of the question the Softail line may be a great alternative for you. Also; the Dyna Switchback might be cool since you can remove all the touring items.

I have seen a few people put bags and windscreens on the V-Rods along with new bars that soften the riding position. I've never been on one so I can not attest as to if its a good long distance bike but I've seen more than one.

Just an FYI however: we've almost all gone through the dilemma you're at now where you want to travel but a bagger seem too "old" and not cool... until you ride one for 1,000 miles on a trip and then can't understand why you fought it for so long!

That Night Rod is a great looking bike. The XR I bought last fall was my first Harley, and I didn't know about the V-Rods at the time. If I had I would have seriously considered one, even though they cost a lot more than I was planning to spend. A V-Rod could well be my next bike.

I'm already old and un-cool, so that's not a real concern for me.

It's just a matter of personal preference. I love the old school look, but not the big baggers for some reason. This past weekend is typical for me on my 48 -- 250 miles over the three days. Not enough to consider it actual touring, but more than running around town. Not enough to need storage, but it would be kind of nice. I'm just not certain whether I'll really ever do anything to change the riding dynamics of the 48.

I am planning some longer rides this spring. I do like looks and what I've read about the Night Rod, so I'm interested in it for possible longer rides.

Gotcha. A regular day ride for me is usually 150-300 miles - even on the Triumph.

Hey thanks for the compliments man, and as for long rides, it's very comfortable, very fast, and I think will do great long distances minus the refueling, she's very thirsty especially if she's run hard but that 8-9k rpm is very addictive lol. But personally I think the v rod would make a good bagger.

Hey thanks man, and believe it or not the XR1200X was my second choice if for some reason I didn't like the V Rod, but I ended up falling in love with it haha. It's very fun man, very very fast, it attracts a lot of attention people always asking what it is, people dropping their jaws, pretty girls asking you how fast it is lol. But yeah it's a great bike I have a blast riding it.

Default Night rods

Your new bike looks awsome. I have a 2010 Night rod special and just love it for everything it is meant to be. I am not sure why so many second hand Night rods are so low in miles. Some people must buy them scare the sh*t out of themselves and park up, only to bring it out on the drive when the sun shines. Why the hell would you pay that to not use it. I used mine over the winter/spring/summer & autumn. Pain to wash and clean but hey ho would rather that than see it sit still. I put on Black widow pipes and they are the dogs bollocks. Had a superb time up at the 'Thunder in the Glen' harley day @ Aviemore so you should look at it this year to get a great weekend run on ur bike.
