Just inherited my dads 1986 voyager xii, extremely clean.Just put new tires on and have been enjoying it alot.Heres my problem, I believe it needs a battery,it wont hold a charge very well(have to keep it on battery tender nightly).Got off work tonght and had to push start, would not crank over.Started right up,but no guage lights or headlight. Not fun in the dark,10pm. Anyhow was wondering if guages and headlight are on same fuse,I have the repair manual , but doesnt say much about fuses. As far as wiring diagram they may as well have wrote it in invisible ink,all greek to me.Any help would be appreciated.

It's possible they are on the same fuse. There may be a diagram on the fuse block or cover itself showing which fuses are where.
A blown fuse in combination with a draining battery makes me suspect a dead short somewhere in the lighting circuit. These are often tricky to track down. Sometimes a close inspection for a damaged wire can turn up the culprit.

also sounds like your alternator is dead, because if it worked the lights would come on (dim)
as its supposed to charge your battery |

Well, had it on trickle charge all night, went out this morning and it fired right up and all lights worked as normal. Found in the back of manual where dad kept notes of every thing he has ever done to bike, last new battery was 5-3-2000.There is a new one charging on the bench now.he paid $42 back then,$65 for me.I will let yas know if problem is fixed. Thanks
