I am slowly starting to get ready to try and build a bobber, and I was just wondering what the thoughts are between a Honda cb750 or a Yamaha xs650. It seems like there is a lot available for both, with maybe the 650's having a little bit more being manufactured for them. Anyway, any thoughts or experience would be greatly appreciated.

first you should think of price obviously wich ever you could pick up for a good price only makes sense do some research on what you want your bike to look like and what you can or cannot do with each i know for myself i went with a honda because i am more familiar with the engines then the yamaha and in my local area there seems to be more cb s then xs so it is easier to buy parts locally

Well, everybody, and i mean just about everybody,(cept me), is into the 650's to the point I'm tired of looking at them. You can buy just about anything for them. The cb750 sohc was built and the most popular to build, back in the day.
But today, 650 without a doubt, has more crap available..but be advised, your not going to come up with too much that hasnt been allready done with one. I dont even stop to look anymore.. |

I'm a cb750 fan. Cyclex has tons of sweet parts for the cb750. I;m building one now.

As much as I am a Honda fan, I think I might choose the Yammie on this one, only because the Maxim does fit me better than the cb bikes

That is a nice looking bobber. Fairly fast for a hard tail I imagine. How does it ride/handle?

Never rode this one yet . Right now its tore down for paint. So I can't say but I had others and yes they are fast light and fun to ride. But you know raked hardtails are a little rough to ride. Thanks
