Come right out and tell him why you don't want to ride with him. He'll either get mad and not want to ride with you, or his eyes will be opened and he might change his ways. Either way, you win!

I know a retired cop who used to be a bike-cop. He calls bikers, "organ donors" lol.

If you don't want to ride with your neighbor because of his careless and reckless behavior, do him a big favor and just tell him. Grow a pair and just be up front. You may be saving his life. He;s lucky your his freind there are people who would have handled his wreckless behavior more proactively and right then and there.

A little up date. We still ride together, and he did go down again the other day.

Coming into a corner to fast, and for some reason he doesn't like using his front brakes so as soon as he hit the dirt the bike slid out from under him. I didn't see what happened, but apparently he was almost stopped so it wasn't bad.

I've tried telling him that his front brakes hold ALL the stoping power. Maybe ya'll can help him understand that, cause he is on the forum now. He's Ninja500rider.

Oh and by the way...he hates this thread

Sounds like a MSF course is in order. It's easier than learning the hard way.

I think he took it before he got the bike.

They didn't teach the front brake thing? 70-80% front brake to slow down. Reduce your speed before entering a turn and gently accelerate out of it. That's it in a nutshell

Mister ninja500 why do you drive like you do? Is it because you truly do not know any better or you don't care for the safety or yourself and others? I am more concerned with the harming of others because it sounds like you chose to be careless and reckless. It is usually your kind who comes out without a scratch while terminating someone elses existence. Please consider making the necessary adjustments, if not for yourself, for the innocent.

I don't like it either and would prefer the mc community stop using it. If someone wants to speak bad things into their life it's their buisness but I'd prefer to not be look at as an accident waiting to happen.
The statement is false as there are many, many riders that have never had an incident.

forget his delicate feelings, a reality check may save his life=blast him-let him be mad until he realizes you may have saved him from himself. Maybe he will be man enough to thank you for your honesty!

Ok everyone on this post, what I did was about a year ago. It was stupid and I did learn my lesson. Now a ride that I did a few months ago where I fell going in to a turn, not because I didn't use enough front breaks. Cause I lock up the front wheel going in to the turn. After I let the front brake go to let the wheel stop sliding I hit the front brake again. I was turning in the turn and slid on some gravel that was on the outside of the main grove. That’s what happened that day.

We all have come in to a turn a little too hot and have had the “oh **** moment.” Give me some slack. I have learned my lessons.

Everyone has to learn at some point. Don't feel too bad. Just keep being careful every time you ride.

This thread was a fantastic read - almost like a good sitcom.

I was on the edge of my seat, THEN, the rider no one wants to ride with shows up on the forum! zing!

ninja500rider: Your post was the comical climax.

Another valid argument is that this guy could easily put you in danger or harm you. We've all heard horror stories of the weirdest, most improbably random thing coming out of the sky/shoulder/road/space shuttle and causing an unavoidable crash. To be riding with a fairly predictable risk puts you at risk as well, and that is the most valid explanation.

That was pretty big on your part. I have a lot of respect for that. My hats off to you and sorry to hear about your set back and you and your bike are A OK.

I am going to first admit, I didn't read the entire thread, but I get your gist just by reading your first thread.

To me, it is simple. I am a man of No Bull@#*$. If you are doing something stupid, I will tell you, no matter if you are my best friend, brother, or complete stranger.

I would tell him flat out, "Hey Jim, I am trying to ride for many years to come and I feel like if you are going to continue to ride like you do, you aren't my best riding partner. You can either ride responsibly and we can continue riding together, or you can ride like you want and we can continue to be friends and neighbors, but not riding partners. Any questions?"

Just my opinion ..
