The 2012 Star Raider SCL is the first offering of the new Star Custom Line. The limited-edition Raider cost a bit more than the base model, but there certainly will be buyers anxious to get their hands on one.

The Star Custom Line (SCL) is roughly following the Harley Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) business model. The new Star Raider SCL will only have 500 units available for purchase this year.

The “Blazing Orange”, black, and gold paint scheme looks great on the sleek Raider. The paint is highly metallic and applied with a six-layer process. Each tank is numbered as a limited edition with an aluminum tank badge. There is a two-tone black and tan leather seat with orange stitching and “SCL” embroidered into the pillion seat.

The chrome trim level is the same as the Raider S, with more chrome parts than the base model Raider has. The SCL boasts steel braided brake lines, as well as steel braided throttle and clutch cables.

The power plant and drive train are identical to the base model and upgraded “S” model. The fuel-injected 1854 cc V-Twin and 5-speed transmission end with a belt final drive.

The Star Raider SCL will be available this March at a retail price of $19,990. That's $5400 higher than the base model Raider, but the custom paint, leather, and chrome will likely tempt some riders to take a look.

Yamaha Cruisers

Do love the Yamaha Star line. The just seem to fit what I like about cruisers the best. Wish that Honda would not have dropped their VTX1800 line. Yamaha belt final drive is also something I like. Efficient, simple, and low failure rate. 113Ci air cooled V-twin rated at 42mpg, not much to complain about.
