So I finally upgraded. A 2003 Suzuki SV1000S in nearly perfect condition. I want to raise up the bars a bit and put the seat cowl on the rear, but other than that I love it. Almost perfect as is.

Any suggestions for bars that make it more comfortable and less aggressive? I'm looking for more touring out of it than crazy crotch rocketing. Although, I do like that it has the crotch rocketing abilities...hehe

I absolutely LOVE the sound of the big V-Twin in this thing. The previous owner hollowed out the mufflers so it no longer has the sewing machine sound.

Yes you did! I have looked at the Helibars, thats my first choice currently.

That is one sweet looking bike! I've never really been into sport bikes before but that gets my attention. Congrats on the new bike.
Much more comfortable and it's considered a Sport Tourer, I find it a little odd that the bars are so low so I'm going to fix it!

I have MX bars on my Fazer. They are great for touring, although they stifle the sportier riding a bit..
I will look at those, I'm totally fine with stifling the sportier riding. I'll never push it to it's limit anyways.

Nice pick up. Apex makes riser clip ons that are really cool and incredibly adjustable.

This is really cool, thanks.

Sharp looking bike. I wouldn't change a thing other than to put more miles on it.
Thank you, all I plan on changing is the exhaust, bars, front seat, and remove the rear seat completely.

Aftermarket bars are available that should raise it up a little bit. Sharp looking bike, those things are a blast to ride.
Thanks, it's ridiculously fast. I haven't ridden something like this.

daw840, Very nice bike! LOVE that color. Make sure to let us know what you decide to do about the bars. I'm looking at a 2008, and if I get it, I'll definitely be looking to raise the bars a bit. I was kind surprised how low they are for a bike that isn't a 'supersport'.
Thanks, I really like the color as well. My stupid gear is all blue though. :frown:

Is the suspension adjustable on that?
The rear shock has been replaced with a fully adjustable shock to change the ride height. The 1st owner was really short and had to get that to touch the ground. The 2nd owner, the guy I bought it from, was a little over 6 foot so he adjusted it higher, it's about perfect for me. Although I wouldn't mind it being just a tad lower.

Yeah, I think I am just going to go with the HeliBar clipons. They bring them up 2 inches and rearward 1 inch.

What are you going to put in place of the rear seat?

NICE!, and thats my favorite color for th SV's. You'll have a lot of fun with that.

A budy of mine has one just like it and he put an M4 exhaust on there and that thing sounds bad a$$.
Yeah, I think those are 2 into 1 though. I want the high mount duals eventually.

Does this come with the top triple that allows bars?
I am not sure, I've seen a couple conversion kits for it though.

Nice ride, dude! Ive always been a fan of those, and that one looks really clean. With your blue gear and red bike, you could always get a white helmet and gloves or something to look uber patriotic :)

I think I may pick one of these up a little closer to summer, but I would have to get the sv1000n, as the pegs are a tiny bit lower and the handlebars a tiny bit higher. You may want to check ebay to see if you can find stock sv1000n bars, im pretty sure they will fit, and you could probably find them cheap. (Im not sure how much higher you want them though, and they arent that much higher I dont think.)

I want them to be about 3 inches higher and slightly more rearward. The guy before me actually lowered the triple trees down about an inch so that it dove into corners easier. I am going to just undo that and get the clipons and it should be good. I feel like I am constantly sliding way to far forward in the seat. It squishes me man bits....

Boyfriend of a young lady I work with here just got a silver one in trade and there is another silver one I looked at on a dealer's floor 3 days ago. If you are willing to make a trip I'll show ya around the mountains on that beauty. I love those things myself. Just a thought....
