Home built exhaust question

Just a brief question for the DIY's among us. If you have the equipment to bend/cut/weld pipe at home, how tough is it to actually build your own exhaust system? Seems like a lot of basic parts aren't terribly difficult, just time consuming and equipment-intensive. Is this the case with exhaust? Just curious. Thanks for any feedback.

Changing pipes will change the way the bike breathes. A PowerCommander (PC) would allow you to adjust the fuel mix accordingly. On fuel injected bikes, whenever you change intake or exhaust, 90% of time they need to be remapped...

With an aftermarket pipe and a PowerCommander, you can usually download the correct map and upload it to your bike. With a custom pipe, like you're proposing, you'd likely need to get the bike dyno'ed to net the correct map. Without a PC or other ignition mapper though, how the bike ran would be a ****-shoot!

Thanks Prim. I had totally neglected the question. Essentially rejetting the carb would have the same net effect as mapping the ignition and all, right? I mean, ultimately I have to change up the fuel mix? Which is more of a pita, the powercommander route, or the rejet?

Ya know... Jetting the carb is gonna a walk in the park compared to building your own exhaust.

I know my way around bikes pretty well and have jetted and remapped many, but I would NEVER try to engineer and build an exhaust system myself! That's WAAAY over my head!
