I recently bought a '85 Honda Nighthawk cb450 and I cant get it to start. It sounds like it wants to run but as soon as you let off the starter it quits firing. Ive replaced spark plugs which have spark and the battery and ivedrained the carbs/gas tank. I took off the carbs and blew out the lines and jets to try to remove anyblockages if there were any. Im wondering if it still could be a carb problem or if maybe the coil is putting off to weak of spark because it comes closest to running when its fully choked and theres no throttle. Any help will do.
Is that what puts carbon deposits in your engine? Sounds like a Schwarzenegger character.
Is your timing maybe out of whack? Was it running fine and then just started doing this or is this your first attempt at starting? Or maybe it was recently taken apart? Or hasn’t run in years?
Yeah ive tried spraying starter fluid from the air box but its like it rejects it. It's as if it instantly flood it when even the smallest amount of fuel is introduced.
well suposedly it was running a couple weeks ago... not sure about that anymore, but anyway i dont think its the timing, but i guess it could be. Any easy way to figure out it thats the issue?
When I took mine out of storage this year before I sold it. It did not want to run I think it had to do with stablizer in the gas as well as weather (cold) mine was every warm blooded. I alwas had to choke mine even in the summer for about 5 min be for I could ride it with out stalling.
You sead you sprayed carbs but did you break them down and clean the jets and valves with carb cleaner.
