how's it going. a lot has happen since we last talked. lets's see. i found out why it was so hard for me to get moving, 1 of my carbs was clogged. i'm not much of a mechanic, so i didn't know it was clogged. i got that cleaned out (the bike just sat for about 7 months) i got into a MSF course, well not until june 7th and 8th. i'm really looking forward to that. i had a lot of questions about shifting and downshifting. been riding everyday for about an hour after work---not in traffic. their is a road near my home, that no one really uses. no red lights or stop signs. i've just bee practicing. tell me if you think i'm on the right track. i know this may sound somewhay crazy. but when shifting i'm told i can hear it, well i wear a full face helmet. i don't hear anything but the wind. i'm also told you can use the tach, until i can get the feel for the bike. my bike does not have a tach. so i going by feel. this is what i come up with.
1st---0-10 mph
2nd--10-20 mph
3rd--20-40 mph
4th--40-50 mph
5th--50 mph
6th---55+ mph
and i reverse it when downshifting. why the long span in 3rd----20 mph to 40 mph. is that just because that's how the motor is geared for 3rd gear. i see all the other gears are pretty much timed to change in 10 mph intervals. and 6th is pretty much like overdrive.
i must admit everyone says be careful, bikes are dangerous----i agree they can be, but i'm more scared that i won't catch on. it's driving me insane. i sit on this bike and i feel that rush, not the speed of the bike, but freedom of driving, and i'm worried i won't get to that point. i understand you need time to develop, you get no argument from me on that one, but i can't develop if i can't get the motions down.
so BH121, any advice for me or did i scare you off already
