2001 SV650S, with the fairings all removed so it's a SV650. :D
It's not pretty, and the paint job is a bit sketch. The only flag I saw
was that the owner before this guy drove it for a while with no speedo/odo.
The guy who is selling it put the tach/speedo/odo back on. It registers
about 5K miles.
The current owner is a friend of a friend with a decent reputation.
I saw it in person yesterday, it sounds good and revs smooth.
The exhaust sounds killer.
It's been posted for a while, over a week, and I was the first one to go
and see it. I was thinking about offering him 1500 for it, as it
REALLY needs new tires. But it does come with the fairings and original
headlight...which I don't really care about.
What say ye?

That's a sexy looking bike, 1500 sounds like a good deal but I don't know much other than it looks really nice.

Where can I find one of those for that price?!?! I'd jump on it, especially if you like streetfighters.

I do! I think the only thing that makes me nervous is I don't really know
how long owner #2 rode it without the Odo before selling it to current owner.

I'd probably not that long...but still, I was wondering if I was overlooking
anything.
The Exhaust and sound of the bike...oh...*chills* just...awesome.

The bike looks good but like you said, you never know how many miles does the bike have on it ? who knows after couple thousand miles you may need an engine rebuilt ??

In these kinda situations.. i just close my eyes and listen to my heart.

Bad tires, missing fairings, no speedo/odometer and swapped out headlights, and frame sliders....

Im thinking that bike was stunted at one time or another.

Check the frame and the fork seals, and look for scratches in places there shouldnt be any like bar ends, crankcase covers, those sliders, etc.

sliders were clean, the ends of the bars looked scuffed but the
bars looked and felt straight.
I'll check it out again and check the crankcase cover,
but I think it was pretty clean.
The engine looked clean and I didn't hear any valve ticking
or other "bad sounds" from the motor.
I've been letting him sit on it for a few days...I should have the last payment
from my bike in the next day or so, so then I can go and be ready to
make an offer.
I'm still thinkin 1500.

Well I went and looked at it again today. I got to cold start it
around one-ish...it fired right up, no choke.
The engine sounds very smooth, and throaty. I revved it a bit and
there's no unnecessary sounds...it's pretty silky.
The top of the tank is dented, so I do wonder about the stunting.
The current owner didn't know, so I dono what to think. The bike looks like it's been down a few times, but nothing serious. I did see the original plastics and they don't look too awful either.

The kid DID mention that the guy before him drove it a lot without the
odo. The earlier owner guessed 20K miles or so on the bike...
yikes!
I'd love to do a compression check, but I looked at the plug locations...
yeesh. That'd be an all day job.

The clutch felt ok kinda rocking it in first gear, but I dono that that could tell me anything.

still not sure. I guess I'm hoping something sweet will pop up...everyone else with bikes seems to not "get it" that the economy is really slow right now.
