I'm at work right now, it's a typical night. Watching Hells Kitchen on hulu on the iMac, downloading new podcasts on the macbook, work on one monitor of the pc and this on the other monitor. Nothing going wrong, not a bad day.

Out of nowhere I have a burning desire to just leave and go riding. I think I could just ride to the lake michigan shoreline right now. Sure, it's 100 miles and it's almost midnight, but it's like I've suddenly gotten cabin fever. Has this ever happened to you guys? Is this literally the call of the open road?

yup, happens all the time. usually sleep/work/lack of money keeps me closer to home though, but it's nice to get out once a week for a 200+ miler.

Most days I can go 50 miles or so but last night was real bad for some reason. Weird. I'm heading out for a few hours before work today.

One time I was tossing and turning at night, I couldn't fall asleep, one of those times were 1000 different thoughts are rushing through your head at the speed of sound. So I said screw it I went out fired up the bike and went for a quick ride. I hit the road around 4am making sure to put my cell in the saddlebag. I stayed out until about midnight the next day, never once did I look at the phone, just got away from it all for 1 day. It was a great day, and if you ever want great pic's of your bike the best time to get the best lighting is right when the sun is coming up. I have always said if **** ever hits the fan and everything goes wrong I will take all my money and just hit the road and stay gone until the money is all gone.

YES, YES, AND YES, i always want to do that, but i know that it would cause havoc, because the wife would flip out, and besides the real Idiots are usually out at night, so i just usually say screw it, but i always wanted to take out the bike at night, but havent yet

I do ride at night a lot though. I just keep it within city limits and the lights / lack of deer. Stupid drivers are easier to deal with at night because they're so far and few between (around here at least) no metro traffic to deal with.

When I ride at night, I'll do interstates, highways I don't really worry about where I'm at I just try to make sure I'm not over riding the headlight and keep an eye on the ditches. If I'm honest though, I do get a little tense when I see bloodstains on the road from where deer have recently been smeered on the roadway.

Seems like driving around for two days in your underwear would have been tough...

If it was a hot summer day though I bet the breeze felt good. Although I would hate to go down in boxers, I bet road rash on your unit would hurt like hell.

I have spent all day riding and after going home for a few hours I was ready to get back on the bike again.

rustydog has an iron butt, I think... lol.

I keep waiting for thedameduck to come back and 'splain that post a little more, though. ;]

I usually get the urge when I'm fixing dinner for the fam, and one of the local guys comes cruising down the road home from work on his bike, taunting me. lol.

You were able to go through walmart without a shirt on? About about the whole no shirt no shoes no service thing? Here you would have been escorted out.

I'm having one of those moments right now. I rode the bike to work today, and all day I've wanted to drop everything and just hit the road.
