We used Zazzle.com so that we wouldn't have to pay any upfront publishing and printing costs, but as a result- we don't have any inventory. Zazzle is basically a print-on-demand vendor so they make the calendars as they get the orders...
Maico Shark
02-06-2009, 02:14 PM
Do you know how many they sold sanjay? Could be next year we could get a production run that will keep costs low. I printed a family calendar this year (everyones birthdays and anniversaries etc) photos of family each month. I only made 20 and cost was under $10 each.

This year, instead of competing for a particular month, we've divided things into classes so that the whole spectrum of the motorcycle scene will be portrayed in our calendar. We only want your bike in the photo, (although an attractive background may add appeal) You may post any questions or comments here on this forum but the sub-forums featuring the categories are only for submitted photos, please don't post comments there.
So dig out the kodak and the tripod and wash & shine the trusty steed. Even if you don't win, you'll look better going down the road....
Contest will run until August 1st. Voting will begin August 2nd and end August 21st. Prizes will be awarded and calendar will go to print by September 1st.

To post your pictures, you have a few options. If you are using the full post editor (not a quick reply) you can click on the paper clip icon to attach an image to the post. A menu will come up letting you browse for a file on your computer or enter a web address for a picture.
Also, if you have the image hosted someplace else, such as Photobucket or your own website you can use the image tags. Simply click on the icon that appears to be a mountain range with a sun behind it on a yellow sky (Venus?) and enter the URL of the image. If you are using the quick reply feature, you can simple type url where url is the address of the picture.

Well, for my preliminary introduction, I will state that I consider a "custom" bike to be hand fabricated from the frame up. Since the over 500CC Streetbike section is for "basic use" bikes, I guess "custom" includes any modifications .... that means I'm in the right place .
This bike began as a 1993 Harley FXSTC. It has gone through many modification over the years but the most recent is a new engine with complete coverage hand engraving.
- Bubs upswept exhaust w/ engraved and chrome plated heat shields
- ported and polished heads, shaved for high compression.
- Recent mods not shown in the photo - a Landmark 18" diamond spoke rear wheel. Yep, I'll update the photo asap as soon as I get one.
I've rebuilt "My Ol' Lady" several times over now. I also did the engraving. Another never ending project ;) Enjoy....

Thank-you all for the kind words.
This bike really hasn't been seen much since the new engine was completed and installed. I don't ride as much as I used to and as I'd like to get the struts, lower legs and outer primary completed this winter, the "work in progress" thing kinda keeps it in the garage.
I'd like to also thank Shark for opening up the thread to questions which I am more than happy to answer.
Yes, this is hand engraved. No computers or lasers. The areas inside the scroll on the aluminum engine parts are relieved then "dot" punched with a hammer and bead punching tool.
This engine was purchased new and then taken down to the case. The heads were polished (inside and out) and the jugs and crank case were re-painted black. Every cooling fin on the cylinders and heads were bright cut by hand. Aside from a few performance enhancements, it's close to stock .... mainly because I've had other H.D. Evo motors fall apart for one reason or another.
The Bubs exhaust are considered classics now since I guess since they are not made any more and haven't been for awhile. I like them because no one else has them. ;) The chrome on the heat shields were professionally stripped by a plater and shipped back to me for engraving and final polishing then shipped back out for re-plating.
A lot of the engraving done on Panheads and Shovels back in the 60s and 70s were done by firearms engravers. They did lettering and what they knew best which was classic factory firearms scroll. I've tried to replicate what I remember seeing as a kid growing up. No flames, skulls or pole dancers ... just classic scroll work.
Again, thanks for taking a look. I think when the last few parts are completed, I'll have to get this bike out of the middle nowhere and show it.

Thats MY WARRIOR. Thats how I cruise. Rides so smooth and with the new corbin seat, I can ride for HOURS! Stock seat wasnt hard on me but this one is amazing! Got a luggage rack for the long haul but typically a backpack will suffice.

BJMartin
06-26-2009, 10:44 PM
Depends. If its HOT, I wear alot of Red T-Shirts and a White Helmet. If its cooler, which it is most of the time around here, I wear my leather Jacket which is black and a Black Helmet.
And yeah, it is VERY fun to ride. :-)

Here's a couple of shots of my 08 Roadster.
I bought it in May 08, the same month it was manufactured. It's got about 15,000 miles on it so far. The paint is Crimson Sunglow. Harley stopped making the Roadster in 2008. It was the last of the Sportsters to come equipped with a factory tachometer.
InfiniteMiles
06-27-2009, 04:01 PM
I usually don't go for Harleys but that's a sharp bike.
Why would they stop making tachs...
first centerstands, now tachs, soon enough were going to have to buy aftermarket horns, and signals...

Here is my 2000 Honda RC-51. It sports dual Arrow carbon fiber pipes, a hot bodies undertail with integrated turn signals, tinted screen, and a nasty set of LED's. 2000 was the first year that the RC-51 was made, it was also the year that it won the AMA superbike championship. 1000 cc's of V-twin power make this bike awesome. It is located deep in the heart of Texas and driven by yours truly.......The first pic is in front of the Capital of Texas in Austin. The second is at an abandon bridge down my lake Austin.
