1985 Kawasaki Klr600 - $1300 Usd

I saw a 1985 KAWASAKI KLR600 on craigslist for that amount. Is it worth buying? This will be my first bike. I'm checking for a beginner to ride and no more than 1500.

These are great bikes. It depends on the condition as to if it's worth $1300. If it's been taken care of and runs well, I'd think it's a good buy.

The thing is, the seller says he has one for $800 but I would need to spend an extra $500 in parts, totaling $1300 for his bike. I don;t know anything about motorcycles so not sure if I can put the the items together once purchased. I'll probably have to pay to have it installed.

What do you guys think?

Shop time can get pretty expensive. It's often the case that it's hard to find places that will work on an older bike as well. I'd recommend looking for something newer if you aren't going to be able to do work on the bike yourself. What you may save in the purchase price can certainly get eaten up in repairs and maintenance in the long haul.
