I'm too new around here to post pics, but I wanted a thread ready for when I can post my *before* pics.
I have to work in a unheated/uninsulated garage, so I don't get out there as much as I want. I've got various heaters to use, but I've also got 54 year old bones. After spending the day standing on cold concrete, I hurt all over for the next two days. You young guys are in for a treat 30 years from now! :D
Been buying a few things on eBay, sprockets, chain, couple of rear racks. Also removed the expansion chamber and spark arrestor and have them in the basement warming up. Gonna paint them with either grill paint or black header paint. Got plenty of chrome to polish, some pieces done already, (lookin good if I say so myself), other pieces still waiting. Don't know if I wanna use the handle bars I have (serious need of polishing), or spend the cash for new. Found two different suppliers on eBay, but both are within pennies of $50.00.
My bars have a mild tweek to them, I suspect only a dirt-bike guy would notice.
My brother is polishing the gas tank, somehow, from somewhere, it got over spray on it. It sat in a roughly 5'x10' steel shed for 21 years, where did the over spray come from?
Hooked up a sparkplug to the plugwire, cranked it a time or two, got spark. :D
Also bought a new 6v battery, and all the wiring I checked out was still good. Gotta finish checking it out though.
My wife cleaned up the seat with Murphy's Oil Soap. Looks like new! Yer jaw is gonna drop when you see the before and afters of that! :)
So far I've been getting pretty lucky with this bike. Hope my luck holds.

Here's some "before" pics. These were taken late in the evening.
1987 was the last year it was ridden.

Here's a few pics of it as I started tearing it apart. My garage is a mess, but
I know where everything is at. *ahem*

That's a pretty cool find and looks like it's in decent shape for the age.
Hey Juggler , I need a couple of pic's if you could . When you pull the rear fender I need a pic of the mounting bolt assembly that goes through the rubber grommet [ bolt washers nut in order ] I think I am missing a metal sleeve where the bolt passes through the grommet , and rear turn signals , how they are grounded and the washer under the nut on the threaded mounting post , is the washer a cupped washer ? Thanks

That looks like that bike will be fun to ride when it's done!

TIKI, forget what I said in that PM, I was thinking of another bike. BUT, the diagram I sent you was correct for the DT360A. Here's some pics... if you need more, hollar.

on edit: There wasn't any cupped washers, but remember, I said my turn signals were in a bucket, so I had to figure out what was the most likely arraignment. That diagram I sent you helps some.

Thats 9/16's outside, 3/8's inside.
Honestly, I couldn't tell you where on the net I got those exploded view diagrams if my life depended on it. I spent a whole night not too long ago searching everything I could think of, and came across those. (I've got a few more). Google is your friend, I typed in "Yamaha DT360A", and started in.
Juggler , you are the man ! Thats it so 9/16 O.D. , 3/8 I.D. I'm assuming it flushes out with the grommet on both sides so it's about a 1/2" tall ? Thanks for your help . TIKI
It looks like you rear fender is cracked in the exact same place mine was , about 3" behind the mounting hole probably on the other side also . The weight of that taillight I'm sure has a lot to due with it .

Man... you threw a scare into me! I looked it over, no cracks. There are some scratches on it though, mebbe thats what yer seein'. ;)
Oh yeah, they are flush with the grommets.
Sorry for the coronary , I had a few hair line vertical cracks on each side right on the edge I thought I saw the same in yours .

Upon closer examination... your right! There are two hairline cracks there. Sumthin' else to fool with now. Good eye!

Hey Juggler, What is the status of this project? I just found this forum while looking for info to help rebuild my '74 DT360A. It looks like the last post was a couple of years ago. Are you still working on it? Do you even still have it?
