hey, picking up my first bike next week, a 2006 v star 650 classic, and want to get highway bars/engine crash bars for it. i'm finding plenty of options, from the yamaha engine crash bars to cobra highway bars and everything in between on ebay. the catch is, nothing really shows them ON the bike, other than extreme close-ups.
anyone have pictures of their highway bars on their bike? preferably a 650...

if you go to v-star1100.com there are tons of pics of all kinds of v-stars. 1100s and 650s.
in some of the pics they list the add-ons. there are some pretty bikes there.

louturks, lookin good! i'm just trying to find what info i can, don't want to spend an arm and a leg, but want something for a little added protection...just in case i end up dropping this bike...*which i don't plan to do* lol.
there's a lot on ebay, some namebrands and some not...anyone know anything about them? i mean is there going to be a real difference other than slight styling differences?

I don't know what the cobras look like. I also had tried the 650 engine guards. They are the ones sold on V-star site. They just stuck out enough to protect the engine not the fuel tank like the ones shown

your big issue is going to be quality of chroming. cheaper ones will have shottier chrome and start rusting immediately. all of them will save you if you drop it. and they will "help" if you lay it down, though they will never claim to.

i like the style of these, small but look larger than the yamaha engine guards...and looks as if they'd serve both protection and a place for highway pegs (or whatever they're called lol).
anyone have any input on these? or know if any namebrand company makes similar bars?

Don't know how to add clickable links, but here are some that won't break the bank.

I got the Yamaha factory bars for my 1100. I like the look. They sick out just far enough that they are the only thing that hits the garage floor if you tip the bike over. I learned that lesson this fall.

Badlands,.....I have an 08 V1100 and I picked up a set of Yamaha Road Bars I was doubtful at first,...But I really like the looks of them. Like you say, "They don't stick out that far". I've seen some bikes that have the really big Road Bars, and it takes away from the looks of the bike. When you look at the bikes that have the big road bars, that's the first thing that you see, the road bars and not the bike itself. Understand, I'm not criticizing anyone who has them, just my opinion.
