what is a good link/source for bike tires? I just got a flat yesterday and i was told to order online because it will be the best/cheapest way to handle the situation.

Is this generally pricey to replace the tire? Im only going to bring them the rim and tire....i dont need them to take off the rim for me.

I just got tires.
I took them off and just had them mounted. If you come in with someone else's tire, they end up charging you more. After I asked for a discount, told them about an online tire cheaper, they gave me a better deal right there in the shop, I didn't have to wait for mail order (and pay shipping) and I could look at the tires before making the deal.
I shopped around a lot and found that was the best price.

I'm not sure of where your current location is, however, CycleGear sells tires online. And again! I'm going to advertise their free shipping for purchases >$100.

So, what you could do is research about the type of riding you're planning to do (hard street riding, simple commutes, long-haul/touring, comfort, track, etc)... then decide on the tire you'd like.

Shop around on CycleGear and order a tire (or set if that's what you're looking for), and have it shipped over.

What's even better is that if there IS a cyclegear shop near you that also has tire-service, they'll charge you $25 to install the tire (if it is off the bike) and I believe $35 or so to install the tire if the wheel is still on the bike... and you won't run into the situation of needing to pay extra for bringing in your "own" tire.

You might want to go look at some dealers or cycle-shops around you too.

Personally, I purchased my tire (recently, last week!) at a local shop and they took me to Bike Mechanic shop. There were no discounts, but I didn't have to pay too much extra. I believe next time I need a tire I'll go to CycleGear and see how their service is.

Good Luck.

I had ridden my bicycle over to Cycle Gear, and they had my tires in stock.
However, they would give no discount.
I rode a few blocks down the street, same tires, same price included installation, and 10 or 15% discount.
Bike tire only shop that has been there for (?) 43 years?
And I did not have to wait for shipping or back order or anything like that.
