i just got a new olympia patton jacket. so far i love it. especially the fact it is BRIGHT red/orange. but i feel the armor isn't quite enough. i mean, the armor in my joe rockets feel stiffer and a little larger. does it make sense to try to switch them out, or since the olympia is newer (by a couple years) i should trust the technology? i have read nothing but good things in respect to olympias products, but i am just curious.
what does everyone think?

A lot of "safety" is peace of mind, so if you feel like you have to, go for it. If it's CE-rated, I don't think it's a concern, but again, if you feel better with thicker pads, go for it.

Safety is brought on by price. I just dumped $430 on a Joe Rocket jacket on Wednesday so I could have some leather protection, since I almost rear ended a delivery truck last week that pulled out in front of me. The new jacket comes with CE approved shoulder (w/ titanium plates, I personally think they won't serve a purpose) and elbow pads. The back came with a thicker rubberized foam padding that contours to your back, so that will be an added bonus. Armor could be very important if you ever have to use it.

very cool on your buy weezerfan. i am a little disappointed, i started thsi thread before i checked the jacket, i can change out the back armor but not the elbow pieces. so i guess it is all moot. if i decided to switch out the back armor, any suggestions?
