rz250 problem

hi i have an 1984 rz250 just wondering it has a problem when you take the choke off the bike drops the left cylinder but once the choke is put back on it comes bac iv put a timing light on it to see if its spark and the timing light stop when the choke is off but is on when the choke is on has anyone got any ideas what is wrong thanks.... Sounds like your left carb is really lean but I'm just guessing.

Its not losing spark from the coils, its losing connection in the plug. Whiich is caused by the plug being overfueled, carboned, fouled, etc. A timing light goes off when the circuit get shorted out (when the plug sparks). Seems that something is killing the plugs ground so it isnt firing. I dont really understand why that when the choke is off it kills it because that would lean the carbs and I dont see more air in the cylinder affecting the plug sparking, It would affect the cylinder combustion but not the plug firing. Did you mean the other way around (fires with choke off but not with choke on)?

Unless the choke lever on the carb is coming up and shorting out the wire before the plug or the coil. May want to look at that.

Sounds like you need to clean your carb(s).
