Also check out Leatherup (http://www.leatherup.com/) for low prices, good quality, very good service, and discounts on shipping. I've been real happy with my purchases.

Just ordered one from newenough.com, closeout section, it's in Phoenix now, should be here tomorrow. Course it's still 105 around here lately.

Check this jacket out: http://www.newenough.com/protective_apparel/textile_jackets_and_pants/cortech_by_tour_master/gx_sport_series_2_textile_motorcycle_jacket.html

Good liner, lots of venting for warm days (read the comments below it, though -- not great for hot days), waterproof.

Got a Joe Rocket Phoenix 3.0 Jacket. Textile with armor, removable liner. I consider it pretty wind resistant even without the liner on. The material is nice and thick and heavy. I use it in 55-60 degree weather at night and it keeps me warm with just a T shirt on underneath. My legs and hands are the only thing that really gets cold.

Maybe try to wear a sweatshirt underneath if you are riding in 40 degree weather. It must feel like 20 degrees at speed without warm enough gear!

I don't know if you are looking for a leather jacket or not but I bought a leather jacket from leatherup.com and it was made by Fieldsheer and it has removable liner. it also has the zipper vents in the sleeves so on the warmer days the wind passes right through you and cools you down pretty good. I was able to wear mine half the summer as well as fall and spring. I am never sitting in traffic or anything so I usually have good airflow to keep me cool.

Good thread; I too am looking for a leather jacket (to put on my Christmas list). I want something that's not too badass-biker, but not too sport-biker either. Anyone know if these wilsons leather jackets are legitemate motorcycle jackets?: http://www.wilsonsleather.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=2474730&cp=2446814.2446939

The "street legal" model looks cool, but of course doesn't have the niceties like air vents and whatnot.

^ No armor and it doesn't say what kind of leather it is. I wouldn't do it.

Check this one out:
