Well I am in the process for looking for a motorcycle. I have never drove a street bike before, but I am looking to learn. Thanks to you all on the forum , I learned about MSF. I am going to take that course. I also learned a little about what size bike I should be looking for. Thanks to the links for new riders. I would like to get me a smaller bike to really learn on.
I was looking at something with less than 600cc, but I was kind of needing some input on what are some good models that would be great for learning. I think I would like to even buy an older bike for $500 - $800 , just to learn on and get comfortable. Safety is my number one concern!
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!
It's great you are doing your homework before jumping in. I'm not sure what you will find for $500-$800, probably not anything in running condition. With a good used bike and gear it may be more realistic to plan in the range of $3000 or so.

And the question for you is: What's your flavor of bike, cruiser, sport, dual, standard or somewhere inbetween?
And welcome aboard!

You know I really don't have one particular bike that I am looking for. Looks are not that important. I just want to find the right deal that runs good and is safe. I am watching some Ninja 250s on some websites, but I am also looking at other bikes also.
I would like to find something maybe that needs a little TLC. I just enjoy that kind of stuff.

if you look on craigslist, there are plenty of used bikes that run for under 1000!
I recommend a CB400-500, GS500 or 550 or something to that sort. You can find plenty in need of nothing but a rider! just don't jump the gun.

There are running bikes for under $1000, my 1982 Honda CB650 was $800 and it was a pretty nice bike.
