I've had my Yamaha Virago 2005 now for two weeks and love it! I bought a 150 cc scooter two months ago, and really love riding on two wheels. I decided to move up to a motorcycle and found someone selling the used Virago for cheap, and it was in excellent condition. The Virago is giving me 70 mpg, easily goes 75 mpg and the throttle still has room for more. It's small and easy to handle. So if you're looking for a first bike or a premium gas saver, that's my rec! I've still got the scoot... that's tons of fun as well and also gets 70 mpg.

Drive on!

There is a lot of discussion regarding mpg these days. 70 mpg is awesome. Enjoy your ride and keep it safe. :)

70mpg is great but here is how crazy things get, a 1200 Sporty will clear 60mpg on a good day and the engine is 5 times the size of the engine in the Virago and 8 times that of the scooter. In contrast, a 600cc sportbike will hit 50mpg on a good day if the rider works at it. Go figure.

Gotta love the low end torque of a v-twin. :)

I'm getting an average of 66 MPG on my GZ250 with about 80% highway (55 MPH) and 20% city riding. Works for me.

And having all sorts of fun riding too. You just can't beat that fun factor.....
