I just made the disition I want to ride down to NC next summer. I want to go see my grandfather befor he is not around any more. I think it would be a lot of fun to show up at his house on my bike. He had a harley at one point as well as raced dirt track. I also have a high school friend who lives there so I could see him and get a new tatoo from him.

If I do this I want to do it for as cheap as posible, gas and food. My only consern is It is a bout 12 hours drive I would think I could shave at least 1 hour of that because I am on a bike. I will be on a sporster so I will be stoping about every 200 miles or so for gas.

So do you all think it is posable. I would only have 5 totel days to do it.

Totally doable! It is about 4 hours from NC to DC, and I think maybe 5-6 more to NY right? So... if you have crazy endurance you could ride down in a day and a half, hang out for a day or so, and then ride back.

dude, i live near florence sc and i can be in newburgh in a tad under nine hours if traffic isn't stopped somewhere along the way. i take I-95 to the jersey tp to the gsp to the thruway if i am travelling at night or on the weekend.

if i am travelling during the day during the week, i take I-20 to I77 to I81 to I84. this route takes about 12 hrs, but if you hit a nasty jam around dc, jersey, or ncy, it can actually take longer than that.

several times i have driven from here to newburgh, slept for a couple of hours, hung out that day, and driven home that night. red bull can be a beautiful thing, lol
