First bike thinking old dual purpose
Looking to get my first bike. I was fixing up a suzuki gt185 but didn't get to finish before I moved out to school up in logan, ut. Now I'm looking for one already running since I don't have much of a place to work on one.
---
So I think I want an old dual purpose because I like to still have the vintage motorcycle look but want something that can go off road as I like the out doors and camping and there is plenty of it here. First bike so I'm not looking at the smaller engines 350-100 I won't be taking it on the interstate so not concerned about that but do want something that can still go 50 easy with sometimes two people on it. My budget is $1000 but really closer to 700 I've found a couple possibilities craigslist and ebay too but I want to buy a bike I've gotten to look over first.

Sorry for the long post here are my questions
-Any recommendations
-Dual purpose or no I do love the look of regular vintage crusiers
-Any other good places to find older bikes for sell
-anything else you want to say to a rookie

Couple more questions though
anyone know ut insurance requirements
what all do you need to make street legal beside signals and mirrors
do you have to register a 30+ old bike
My top to options right now (based on what I could find in my price range)
1975 honda xl 350 hasn't been ridden enough recently so rides a little rough but good shape for its age $850
1974 kawasaki 100 great cosmetic condition we'll need new tires soon to go offroad and gears little worn and is 3hr drive to get it $550-600

I love dual sports for starters. If you fall you can pick them back up and it won't cost you an arm and a leg.
Remember you've got the new tiered license system in Utah now so be aware of that.
Take the BRC from the MSF to get some grounding in basics.
