HEy guys Just wanted to introduce myself, My name's Andy Frantz, and I'm a Junior at McLean High school, about 5 miles south of the NAtions's capital. Im scheduled to take the MSF BRE course in November 08 (The earliest date they had available!) at NoVA COmmunity College. I dont have any street motorcycle experience, but I do own a Honda CR125 MX bike. I barely fit on said bike, because Im 6'4", so I will probably be looking into getting an enduro or a taller streetbike.

Welcome to the forum Andy!

Your experience riding the MX will help you make the transition to street riding. A dual sport bike would be a good choice for taller folks.

Welcome to the forum!

Please feel free to ask any and all questions you might have. There are many tall riders here, and they have tons of experience between all of them. I would go to a metric dealership (Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha are the "metric" bike companies) just to sit on a few bikes. Sit on as many different types as you can. When you find a few you like, ask a salesperson to hold the bike upright for you so you can put your feet on the pegs and get into the riding position. After that, get out there and look for a used bike. We can help ya with that, too!

Just don't think you HAVE to get a dual sport because of your height, you can always put forward controls on a cruiser. That said Dual Sport bikes are pretty cool too, I just have no need for one (no place to ride off road around here :()

Theres always places to ride an off-road bike. NOt always legal, but there's places. Ive never really been a huge cruiser fan, I would probably take my bike to the drag strip, And I would really like to have better 1/4 mile times than my CAR. I Actually have been thinking about building a stunt bike so that I dont have the temptation to speed, and KTM does make some nice bikes that are close enough to begin with.

LOL yeah but around here they have shotguns, I live in a semi-rural area, and the farmers take their faming seriously.
