is it most likely the engine locked up. what can i look for if i go look at it to see if it might be something else. how easy/cheap will it be to get a new motor if thats what it is?
any other thoughts?? thanks a lot
For sale is this 1995 KAWASAKI ZX-6 with a locked up engine. At least something in the engine is locked up. The starter does not do anything, and I put it in gear and tried to turn the engine over and it just slid the back tire. I recieved the bike just how it is. The bike still looks good. Plastic is not beat up. If you had a wrecked bike and needed parts, or knew where to get a engine, you can beat this bike. I thought about parting it out on ebay but I don't have time to mess with it. I have a clean title. If interested call
Thanks,

did you already purchase? if not how much did they want for it? mileage?
these are all things to take in account when getting a bike like this. it looks gorgeous and i dont know if your mechanically incline or not, but i bought my first bike in kinda the same situation as this one(ninja 250 just needed to put a new clutch in)real cheap and i did all the work myself with this site www.cyclepedia.com as a step by step guide. they make you pay a membership like 10 bucks, but they have color pictures and makes its easy as possible. i really had fun trying to find out what was wrong with it and gave me the chance to learn my bike inside and out. for parts i just went on eBay and typed what i need and it usually came up pretty cheap.
p.s.
if you dont want it feel free to pass on the info lol

A new engine will be fairly expensive. It may be better to buy a running bike of the same year and just use this one for parts. Most likely by the time you get this one running again, you will have spent more than just buying a good used bike.

750 seems a bit high. You can probably find a good running one for double that and, depending on what's wrong with it, you could end up spending well over double that to get it running right.

thanks to all who suggest a running bike but money is an issue

First I would be checking with the dealer to get a baseline cost for an overhaul or reconditioned engine. Second I would check the salvage side to get a price on a running low mile replacement. The bike no doubt looks clean and the research data would help make my choice as to buying it or not buying it.

I would never buy someone else headache. Long gone are the days that I purchase something "to work on" since I barely have time for anything. I want anything I buy in very good condition so I can enjoy it.

I think with a locked up engine I wouldnt pay more than scrap price for it....unless I had one I needed parts for.
If I ran that thru a crusher it MIGHT bring $150 or so....maybe $200 tops.
