Anyone else see the Moto GP coverage by CBS Sports at Laguna Seca this past Sunday? Totally incredible performance by Valentino Rossi over Casey Stoner (who was expected to win) and a horrendous (but thankfully not serious) crash by Jorge Lorenzo in a full-out battle of blood-n-guts. Hats off to CBS Sports for proclaiming Moto GP a real "sport".....and TELEVISING IT..... FOR FREE!!!
Next GP race coverage on CBS Sports Sunday, August 17th at Brno. Don't miss it!!! If you've never seen Moto GP this is a real eye-opener!

I saw it and I almost cried :(

Stoner had already passed Rossi multiple times and failed to make it stick. He would have passed Rossi on the straight had he not fallen on the last corner. The race was a dogfight between the two best riders in the world. It was all I couldīve hoped for except for one thing: Stoner lost.

Itīs a huge psychological victory for Rossi, who now carries a massive 25 point advantage in the World Championship into a month-long vacation. Stoner, on the other hand, must be very demoralized. He will have to spend the next month thinking about this crushing defeat.

The crazy things was that he was able to fall, pick up the bike, and ride off again with a huge lead over third place (was it Chris Vermulen?). It was a testament to how hard Stoner and Rossi were pushing. They left everyone else half a lap behind!

Speed TV usually televises all the races each week (since the races are usually overseas). The coverage is better because you don't have some guy yelling and screaming commentary like an excited child at his first motorcycle race. It was funny because Kevin Schwantz, who was also covering the race, was nice and calm and he actually knew what he was talking about. That other clown was so annoying we finally had to turn the volume down for the first half of the race until I imagine someone probably told him to chill out... he wasn't quite as unbearable the second half.

If Stoner didn't drop his bike in the gravel, that would have been the race of the season. Actually, it still is the race of the season thus far... it just ended early. :(

Yeah, Stoner dropped it in the gravel.......but I'm not sure he would've taken it had he not. Rossi was guarding the lead pretty jealously and had already blocked him multiple times. Amazing how he seemed to know when Casey was gonna pour the coals to it and simply blocked his attempts. All in all, it was one of the best shootouts I've ever seen between two of the best in the biz!

Honestly Stoner had reeled him in so close that he would have passed him on the straight had he not botched that last corner. What a shame :(
