Hey guys,

First time on here. Just got a 2007 Triumph Speedmaster and want to put some after market pipes on it. It is also talking about re-jetting on the site that I want to get the pipes from. Its a job I want to do myself so I can a. save money and b. learn my way around a bike. My dad was a biker in London way before I was born so I didnt get to learn about the machanics of a bike.

What does Re-jetting do?

Can a guy that has never worked on a bike engine do it?

Thanks for all ya help...by the way the pipes come with a main jet and idle jet kit apparently...dont know what re-jetting does or what to do.

Cheers guys

Steve

I have installed aftermarked pipes on a number of motorcycles from sports to cruisers and a lot of the time the tendency is for the bike to run leaner. On deceleration the exhaust will make a popping sound.

Re-jetting in most cases involves installing larger jets(they have a larger inside diameter to allow more fuel flow) in the carb(s) and some times replacing or adjusting the slide needle.
Anyone who is some what mechanicaly inclined can do it. I would suggest getting a service manual for your bike if you plan to do it yourself.
