Hello All and it's time for my annual plea for the Ride for Kids.

The Ride For Kids benefits the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and has rides scheduled all over the country. It is extremely well managed and organized, with a police escort and closed course in most locations. The foundation itself works on a shoestring so all the money goes to the kids, but they still put on a very impressive ride.

I got involved because my sister is a 17 year survivor of a brain tumor, and I have a 3 year old cousin currently waging his own battle.

Please try to attend a ride in your area. Your support benefits real people who are really important to me.

If you can't make any of these, not to worry. You can still sponsor me! http://www.firstgiving.com/tomharvey2008

It depends on the city. Pittsburgh gets 3-400 bikes and raises $50-60K. Some rides get more bikes and are over $200K.

Here's my "kid" sister. I think I posted the link before, but hey, I'm a proud big brother.

I'm the "kid sister". That link hasn't expired. The extremely long length just screws up the link. If you copy and paste wp2.medina-gazette.com adding a www in front of it and search on Lindy Harvey, it will be #3 on the list.

Here's an update from his Mom:

"It is that time again, Zack had his scan on Wednesday. The tumor is still showing stable. So we are good to go on with this treatment.

He is doing well, although,we had a scare last Sunday. He woke up and would not stand or walk for me and was in severe pain when we would hold him. We went down to Children's and they admitted him for a scan the next morning. He ended up getting diagnosed with toxic synovitus. This is a condition affecting children that causes hip pain. The best news we could have heard that day. We were very scared. The Lord never lets you get too complacent with your life. Another day and another blessing."

This is why we ride. He is still with us due to a brand new treatment that wouldn't be possible without organizations like the PBTF.
