Don't you just love that.

I didn't see any deer, but there was a dumb squirrel that did a little double take on the side of the road. Then at the last second he went for it, and WACK!!! I was worried, but no I have no damage to report.

Has anybody ridden all or part of texas highway 16 from Kerrville to Comanche?

I have a trip that might include this stretch if the roads are good and a better ride than US 281.

I appreciate any feedback.

Last Oct (3 Sister's trip) we rode a part of 16 - from Kerrville to Llano. Good road. Better traffic than 281. The last time I went through Comanche I was on 36 and traffic was a nightmare (coming from Brenham).

Thanks, that helps. Good roads is important. I should be in Comanche on a Tuesday around lunch. Surely traffic won't be a problem.

I'm retired and live in the DFW Metroplex too. I'll ride anytime and have a '07 BMW R1200RT and a '09 Vulcan 1700 LT. I live right off Cross Timbers Rd. mentioned earlier. With this many riders in the area we really should form a group of some type for riding.

Would anyone be interested? I don't see this as a group separate from the Motorcycle Forum but a part of it. All members, bikes and sizes.

I would like to get in on some small group riding in Austin. I don't like to ride too fast, or on the major freeways. I don't like to ride above 70, because my bike gets a little shaky. What I'm looking for is a nice easy, 60-70 mph ride that won't be stressful. I like to take it easy.

I would love to ride sometime next week or the week after that, because I'm not too busy. If anyone nearby is interested, let me know and we can get together. I don't flake out, so if we can agree on a time I will always be there.

Alternatively, are there any decent groups nearby? I don't want to full-on join a club, I just want to go on a few rides.

secondroy
08-14-2009, 05:36 PM
While I don't live in Austin I have been connected to it well enough over the years to know that there are riding groups all over it riding every weekend. Most any would welcome you to ride with them and would not require you to join a club or the like.

I would suggest you go by a dealer and ask what they might know of a riding group. Chances are good they sponsor one that would interest you. Most groups will stay within the speed limit, if not you can always drop out.

that was an ending to the season? It was more of a break due to a freak of nature weather occurance, even for Texas. And i did see some people still riding with ice still on the road.

I even remember some dude in your neck of the woods that was riding a BMW, was unfortunately killed during that time. Not because he wrecked on the ice, but because he was clipped by a semi.

Sad thing on my way in to work today. I entered the highway behind a big funeral precession. The police didn't have enough cars to block the carpool lane so one of them asked me to do it and I was joined by another biker who helped. Judging by the number of Bikers with vests on, I am guessing it was a club member. A sad ride.

What irritated me the most was the stupid woman behind me who kept pulling up to my ass and honking. Some people have no respect.

I got on I-30 at Fielder Rd in Arlington and left them at Riverfront Blvd. in Dallas.
