Yikes?! How about Indian Owner Wannabes?! I want to OWN an Indian (Scout) someday so bad I can just about taste it. I came darn close a few times last year but wound up with an older Victory (which is just fine). I can’t imagine anything much sadder in all of Motorcycling then ‘Gilroy’ (CA) Indian’s just about initial success only to have the rug yanked out from under em’ just when they had come out with they’re own proprietary engine (the Power-Plus 100 plus optional Bigger Bore ones..). Dang sad…. NOW we have Chris Craft (luxury Boat Manufacturer) of GB taking up the banner BUT are we making ANY progress since?! I dunno… I’m doubtful BUT will give em’ the benefit of a doubt. Meanwhile will keep saving my pennies and keep my fingers crossed, for a Power-Plus 100c.i. Indian Scout with Mid-Controls and Cast-Alloy Wheels. Dreamin’?! You betcha’…. But that’s what Motorcycling IS all about! Nuff’ said.

LRG

Footnote: Okay Jag13, where are ya’ Bro?! You’re the only (recent) Indian Scout owner I know of in here?! ;-) We had another Brother posting restored Indian Chief pix not too long ago… sing out! ;-)

I had a neighbor that was allowing one to waste away in a barn. Not sure if he's still got it though as I moved away from there about 10 years ago.

My Sister-In Law owns a limited edition Silver Chief. Nice looking bike, not my style, but I like some of the touches they did such as Indian head nickels for the rivets on the leather etc.

Yeah, you're not kidding. If I remember correctly, it was almost 30K OTD

I got my Chief last year, really enjoy owning it. Wondering about other riders experience getting parts and service. I'm thinking about engine repairs to PP100. Who's good?

Mine keeps eating camshafts for some reason.

Yikes? Define "Eating Camshafts"?! Wearing down the Lobes quickly? Bearings failing? Or? In your case, I'm thinking your Scout still had / has the S&S (not Indian) manufactured engine?! Wanted to ask you (previously) what you thought of the S&S engines... Now I don't think I wanna' (but will anyways!)?!

Mine keeps eating camshafts for some reason.

Mornin' Mez and welcome to the Forum! :D

Also wondering how you feel about the Power-Plus 100 (Indian/former Gilroy manufactured) engine so far? Good? Bad? Gold or Junk?

So far I love the PP100. It's one of the reasons I wanted the bike in the first place. I like the big twin, although I would like a six speed for hiway use.
That's also why I'm interestred in having it rebuilt when the day comes. Anyone can stick some other motor in it, but I'm gonna keep mine all Indian.

Mine shakes itself to pieces at hiway speed, I'm gonna put a 2 tooth larger pulley on the front, that ought to calm it down.

Where would one go to locate different pulley for final drive? I used to play around with changing them on dirt machines, never thought to try on a belt drive.

I'm not sure on yours, mine has the S&S engine in it. Not sure who built the primary or transmission. But I got a little bike shop here that is very good about finding that stuff out and being able to get it.

Powerplus 100 engine. I've seen revtek transmissions for these that aren't too much money. I'll probably save up for that, and install next year.

Phil at super max is a great source (tellem I sentya'). These pulley's will not wear out like the stock ones do (do you have the original belt on your machine ?) http://www.supermax.net/
These pulleys with overlays also get rid of that damned annoying chirp! Assuming you have that issue ? I changed my front pulley from a 32 tooth to a 33 tooth rather than the 6speed (alot cheaper!) and I have been very happy with the results:)
The Indianz wheels on the scout are from http://www.xtrememachineusa.com/
Careful they are a bit pricey they can get ya in the doghouse real fast with the Mrs! ;)

Where would one go to locate different pulley for final drive? I used to play around with changing them on dirt machines, never thought to try on a belt drive.
