I'm a beginning rider (6', 200 lbs) looking to buy a bike. The bikes I'm considering are the Ninja 500R and Suzuki GS500F, but on searching for a bike, I have come across a 2006 Katana 600, brand new, for $200 less than either of the other 2 bikes new. The pros I see are that it would definitely give me more bike to "grow into" as a rider, and obviously the price. Also, I love the look of the Katana, so much more than the other 2. I'm just afraid it will be too much bike for me. I'm not looking to race up and down the highway, just something to get good gas mileage to and from work, but that I can take on the highway on the weekends and enjoy. Please share your opinions. I welcome all input. Thanks.

i wouldnt worry about the katana being to much bike, especially the 600. Its not a full tuned ss bike so it should be ok. I started on the sv650s and loved it and now i have the "new katana" if you can say it is lol, but its the gsx650f, which actually is a very fun bike, i have driven both the katana 600 and the bike i have now and actually they are comparable to me in feel. As long as you are careful, because i bike only does what its told, you should be ok.
