THINKING ABOUT BUYING MY FIRST STREET BIKE

I've rode dirt bikes for years when I was younger (8yrs ago). Now I own a Honda 450R quad, but am thinking about buying a street bike for comutting to work (15 mile round trip). I'm considering a CBR600rr that is for sale locally. It's a 2003 with just under 11K miles. The owner states that it has been down once on a low slide, but plastics were replaced and has custom paint, looks to be in awesome shape. He's asking $3600 with helmet and riding jacket. this will be my first street bike. what do you think, is this a good beginer bike? Also, what should I look for when buying a used bike? Thanks
