Welcome New Riders and may the Biker Gawds bless you for sure! :D With that said it would seem to be (at least from where I'm sittin') with the huge amount of new riders we got coming into this forum every day, it would seem to me biking in general (despite everything ELSE going on out there...) is alive and well, and is in no danger of disappearing (as so many other neat things already have)! All I can say is welcome to this forum - it's a pretty nice joint.... and thus far I gotta' say personally I've never found any better out there. This is a place where you can post your questions and/or comments freely WITHOUT needing to put on a 'Thicker Layer of Skin' beforehand - no small miracle I'd say in this day and age! Enjoy...... ;)

Looking to purchase a cruiser soon. Basically know what I want but need help in figuring if 1000cc or more would be too big for a fairly inexperienced rider (last time I was on one was over 15 years ago).
I'm 6'1 240 and hope to have my wife as a rider once my confidence builds. Any help would be grateful.

I am a 26 year old male living in southern Ohio. I am new to riding an dhave found that after waiting several years to buy a bike it is the most fun with your cloths on I have found to date.
I bought a 1979 GS550, green in color with yellow pin stripping. Starts on the first push of the button and only has 29,000 miles on it. I am only having one problem with the bike so far, the speed-tachometers are slow to respond. I can rev way past 2-3000 rpms and it will very slowly raise.
Welcome to all new riders, I am with you and feel free to PM me if you are in the Ohio Valley and want to ride. Always looking for a riding partner, safer in numbers.
Thank you and God Bless. :)

I started on a 550cc, it will be to small in no time. But I only paid 650 bucks for it. After I out grow it my wife will be learning on it, kind of dual purpose.

Yeah haven't found anything that cheap yet... Not much under 2 unless I look in the 1980's. I guess the real question is will an 800 carry a passenger on trips without maxing out the engine?

Apparently you've not been introduced to 'nekked motorcycle riding'! Alcohol is usually involved....or so I'm told! :o :p
