I need to get some boots to ride with. Should it be riding boots or are regular over the ankle boots ok, like hiking boots or high leather boots. Are riding boots made a little tougher on top for where the gear shift hits it?
Thanks for the input:D

I wear Vega Matrix boots and have for a while now and love them

I have them in my ebay store and they are inexpensive yet great for all day wear.

What is the difference between riding boots and reg. boots you would buy at a shoe store?

:D:D not much! Motorcycle boots sometimes have buckles.
Other than that, heck, any simi strong ankle high leather boot is just fine. They're just for protecting your feet a little, should they get bent of scuffed by the road, is all. It's not that important that they be labled "Motorcycle" boots. If they fit ya, and they fit the bill too, well...you know what to do.;)

Motorcycle boots are (or should be) designed with different emphasis on protection than hiking boots and things like that. For instance, a good boot will be reinforced to prevent wear from shifting but still allow good feel of the shifter. A lot of emphasis is on ankle support, and they're designed to fit tight to stabilize your foot and stay on in a crash.

Of course, some motorcycle boots are better than others at meeting the specific needs of riding.

I use Shift Fuel shoes and I'm pretty happy with them, they're motorcycle shoes that are designed to be comfortable walking around in while still offering decent protection.

+1 to that there is a great deal of difference between walking/hiking boots and boots designed to be worn for motorcycle riding, even the ones that look similar are different in many protective ways:D
