Just to get a feel for this particular Buell thread, (as moderator), how many of you ride/own tube frame Buells as opposed to the newer cast-frame XB's and (newer-yet) 1125R?

Yeah, most of them are over on Badweb or Sacborg, but look at it this way; those sites can be zoos and they are so overpopulated you can't even get get in a word edgewise sometimes. And the demeanor of some of the posters is downright rude and/or offensive. So, we have our own little user-friendly site here! And glad to have you all aboard!
I'm really interested in everything you all have to say about the 1125R because I'm really leaning towards one as my next down-the-road purchase.
The 1125 is an impressive machine.
It's also a RevA and that comes with its own kind of fun.
Dealership and Company support have been awesome, but there's still teething pains and some frustration.
My baby was running so smooth, then an ECM update with many fixes came out and my DDFI(fuel injection) now has to re-learn it's at 5000+ feet elevation, not sea level.
So far it's proven itself as a commuter and sport-tourer and a couple of "spirited" rides up to Estes Park in the Foothills.
I'm neither a racer nor a squid, so I still have 7/8" of chicken strip.
I have put over 7k miles on her since December, heated grips rock.
Tech info seems to arrive at the dealership last, so I "live" on BadWeB and call Buell Customer Service periodically.
This is my second Buell, I doubt it will be my last.

I also used to "live" on Badweb, (mostly in the "Old School Buell" section) but skip through maybe once or twice a week, these days....like most sites, it began to get bogged down with TMI (Too Much Information) and got to the point where a "quick scan" for new posts, etc took the better part of an hour. I'd rather be riding or wrenching. I'm hoping our Buell section here will not suffer the same fate, and perhaps we can import some of the knowledge and advice for our group here. Anyway, glad to have you all in the fold....all five of us!:D
We're the guys who know what everyone else is missing!!

I know just what you mean. While this may sound like heresy to some, I view my M2 the way I would a Vincent Black Shadow; not the latest technology compared to this year's bikes, but way more than I'll ever master, and way more torque & HP than I have any business sitting on top of. Plus a bonus of a sound that can't be duplicated by any other bike (except maybe a Duc) and mean, street-fighter looks on top of all that! And I can change both plugs in less time than it takes to get the wires off one of my IL4's. One carb...how simple!!...everything where you can see it, work on it, or admire it. Simplicity defined, where many of todays machines are wrapped around complexity for complexity's sake. I don't need to go faster; I don't need more torque, and I don't need more plastic blocking the view. There is nothing like a tube-frame Buell.....unless it's a Vincent!:D

The exhaust is the popular SSR, induction is EFI, ecm is stock as I have a race ecm in one of the others and this animal just does not need it. So, this is close to stock and it has a scarry amount of power just like it is. I have to be careful starting out from a dead stop because anything other than a strait line take off bring on the danger of wheel spin. As it is, a mildly aggressive strait line start leaves the front end very light and a quick shift pulls the front wheel right off the ground - so stock ecm is plenty, and with that little fairing, 80 is about all I ever get to. But carving up the canyons is where this baby really is fun!!!;)

Well, I have the full Buell race kit, along with the HSR-42 and Andrews N8 cams (basically the same lift as your Lightning cams AKA Andrews N4 grind) but with a lot more duration......man, what a difference from stock! Any semblance of good manners is long gone out the window. I just love the angry snarl the Buell motor makes when you're honkin' on the throttle (especially with the race muffler!)

I may have to reconsider my position - I appreciate your advise.
The HSR I placed on my Dyna Glide and am very pleased with the performance as well but will stay with the fuel injection on the Buell

Advice I can give you......feel free to ask!
In fact, I've got a bunch of pix I took while doing the cams, and I'm going to (eventually) do up a thread about installing the cams, much like the HSR one I did a while back.
How's this for a little difference in cam lobe profile? :D

What?
It's only a cam, guys!
It's really not that far off from the standard Lightning cam (N4 profile) and is a true Bolt-In cam, as no changes or alterations are necessary to the valve train (lifters, push rods or even springs or rocker arms) and only requires minor disassembly to install them. Most of the more popular hot cams (Red Shift, Screamin' Eagle, etc) require piston-to-valve clearance checks, etc. This is a plug&play affair. And well worth it, I might add!

I don't know right now, but soon I'll get my 12r firebolt and we'll be 5 then :p
I'm going this sunday to a big event organized by the Izzo Group (they represent Buell here in Brazil as well as H-D, Duc, Triumph and MV Augusta). I hope to get mine up to late july, but let's see. Bikes are expensive around here specially when they're imported. Just so you guys have an idea of it a xb12R brand new is R$ 38.000 (Brazilian money) it's like $22.940 More taxes than bike =/
...
Sweet bikes David B and buellosaurusrex (good nick btw lol)
Great forum guys!
Cheers,

A wonderful thing to have information and a view from a far. Good to hear from you Victor
These older tube Buells are a tremendous value at this point in time, most folks don't seem to recognize that and so I find them being parted out rather than ridden - such a loss - but a real gain for me and any real serious affection ado / tuber like me. I do appreciate your disclosing the cost that you are having to pay to play Victor, makes me appreciate the situation I have here just that much more.
NOTE: I guess there are faster machine's out there but this one is like strapping one's self on to a missile and pressing the GO button. Not much of a fairing for protection so top speed is not what some others might do (not that it can't do 130 plus but I can't hold on to try) but it just roars through canyons.
Ride with safety in mind

Yeah, I'd like to have the tube Buells around here, but Buells arrived here in 2005. And you guys should appreciate the situation there. The Izzo Group here is sort of, they are H-D minded you know. That's why they're bikes are much more expensive. I wish Eric would see the niche of market here and bring buell.
Oh yeah, there are faster machines here, but the Buell is like unique, I never rode it and still I am going to get it and I'm sure I won't regret. I am not the sort of guy that wants to see who goes faster or see the O indicate 190mph I like the twist roads plus I'm a fan of cafe racers style and buell represent that to me :p
Cheers,
Vitor.

I'd like to have a Cyclone to customize/mod out, but the prices have gone up on them recently. The owners of the ones I inquired about were unaware of factory recalls (shock and/or isolators) so that kinda scared me off.

Prices on eBay hover around 2500-3500 fairly consistantly. You're right about the recalls/mods; many owners seem ignorant/unaware of them. However, if you find one you're interested in, PM me and I'll give you the rundown on what applies to it. Hint: later model =better...virtually all upgrades are incorporated into production.:D
Prices are up somewhat because the butchers are chopping them up for so-called "custom chopper-bobbers".

I really like the tube frame look with a V-Twin nestled inside. I've often thought the Cyclone would look good with some minor cosmetic mods. I also like the Duc for that reason. One day, I would like to build a Spondon, Harris, or other tube framed bike with either a in-line four or V-twin powerplant and single sided swing arm. Yeah, there is one ebay seller that will show a vid of a "perfectly running bike" just prior to dismantling. Unfortunate. Have you ever seen a Mutant chopper? Dang, they're ugly.

I'm 61 and on #21 bike and went from a 01 Sportster XLS and an Ultra classic to the Buell. So far I love it. I rode a few and had to have one but I require hard bags and like the trunk on trips.
Congrats! Nice Uly!
I will probably pick a used Uly up soon myself.
Much better winter bike than my 1125R.
As far as the Mutants, one of the guys I work with at the HD/Buell dealership brokers them at his "side-business".
He's a hard-core Buell guy, with old school HD roots.
I understand that part pretty well.
I'd rather ride one of them than a 140" Twin-Cam Big-Dog, but really, that's not my style.
At least for now...
