I have a KBC full face helmet and today I lifted the face shield up and one of the hinge mechanisms fell apart, thus my face shield falling off on one side.
I am just going to look for a new full face helmet tomorrow. This one is not worth trying to fix. I never did like how the face shield fit on it anyways. It had a poor seal and air always came through at the top.

I always thought KBC was a good brand. What are you going to try now?

One of my grandkids punted one of my AFX modulars and one side of the face shield came loose. Turns out that it looked broken but wasn't. Took a lot of fiddling around to get back together. Is there a part or anything missing? Is there a local dealer that carries small parts for it?

I'm going to check out a couple HJC full face helmets that I liked. I have a HJC 3/4 helmet and I liked the way the face shield on it fits and is assembled and is easy to take on and off without fiddling with a bunch of parts. So maybe I will like a HJC full-face also.

I have a good friend who has the AC-12 Carbon Fiber HJC he really likes it says its light & comfy the shield change looks easy too. I think that I am going to try a shoei next time the shield falls off my Arai :o

If you like the fit of the HJC, I'd say stick with it. I love mine, and their customer service is great. When mine fell off the bike and broke one of the shield mounting plates, I ordered one from somewhere or another and they were taking too much time to get it to me. I complained to HJC and they sent me the plates for both sides for free. Of course, then the ones that I bought arrived, but that just means I have plenty of extras.
Taking the shield off and on is easy, the helmet is quiet and easy to operate, even with winter gloves.
If the HJC is comfortable, I have found no reason to go with a more expensive helmet.

I ended up buying an ICON Alliance SSR Battlecry helmet. I liked the way it looked. It fit nice. The padding inside felt good to me. Liked the way it was constructed all around.
$149 at a local cycle store.

my brother has a kbs, the faceshield never appears to be on all the way and no matter what we do we cant fix it, hes had it replaced to a different model but same problem, every now and then the faceshield pops off on that side to. maybe its just that brand.
KBC had a lot of helmets go out with bad shield ratchets (the hinge). There was a problems with the design. If you e-mail them, they will send you a corrected set for free and you wont have that problem again.

yeah i had the same problem with my shield falling down. then a couple a days ago i pulled off to smoke a cig. that is when calamity ensued. about half way through my smoke the shield flipped down, broke the cherry which then went into my helmet burning my beard and left a blister on the bottom of my lip that looks nothing less than a haggard cold sore...woe is me. so needless to say im in the market for a new helmet too :(

hahaha ! I hate full face helmets. I don't even like having my ears covered. May as well be in a darn cage. Sorry to hear about your cherry, and your beard. hahaha !
Back when I was ridin two wheels, we didnt have the darn helmet law. When I lost my left leg from the knee down, I was not wearing a helmet. Maybe I should of had one on strapped to my knee. lol

hahaha, there's a guy around here who rides a scooter, about a 125, and his helmet sits so high on his head, it makes him look like an alien from outter space. lol I wear a German helmet, and if I rode a sportbike, I sure would look silly. I hope they kill the helmet law in California someday. I'll be the first one to hang my helmet on the wall permanently. I know several poeple who actually quit riding when the helmet law went into effect. I was tempted, but I love riding way too much to just stop. Im scooter trash all the way, and always will be I suppose. Dennis

I have had a trial looking for a helmet, unfortunately for me the only ones I had available for me to try on never fit quite right. The ones that actually did fit were stupid expensive. I strongly suggest the Arai series. Comfortable, expensive yet in the end how much is your head worth to you?

My heads worth alot to me, and thats why I don't bang it on stuff. :)
On a funny note, how many of you remember the old Bell Stars ? A friend of mine has a couple of old Bell Stars, and I never noticed how much they look like an aliens head. The shape is was really weird back then. :)
