What type of gloves do you wear when you ride. I use regular old jersey gloves. It helps that I use them at work too, so I have my own motives.

I am only riding for 40 minutes a day, but I wear the gloves for more than 8 hours, so I guess it isn't fair to the manufacturers. They are warm in the winter wind though.

I know that some have been known to spend more on a pair of gloves than I would a stereo. Mine are $1.99. I bet you can do better.

I don't think that jersey gloves are gong to do you a whole lot to protect your hands if you go down. There ar a ton of leather and textile gloves tht offer warmth and protection. Get what you pay for. :D

I use Tourmaster heated gloves in the winter, Roadgear water-proof gloves in the rain and Joe Rocket gloves for everything else

I've been using $40 "Arctiva" gloves that I found at the dealer. I was going to get $100 alpinestars but ended up liking the Arctivas better.

I just ordered Icon Merc Long gloves for when it gets warmer out.

I can speak from personal experience that good armored gloves are a necessity. I got hit in the hand with a baseball sized chunk of asphalt that kicked up off of a truck tire, and ended up with seven stitches and a cracked tendon. I had regular leather gloves, but they were no match for the asphalt, so now I wear either padded winter gloves when it's cold, or armored gloves when it's warmer.

Everyone looks for gloves to protect them if they go down, but I hurt my hand pretty seriously and never left the bike.

I use to wear open-tipped leathers for warm riding weather, until I took a june bug (Oklahoma) to the knuckes and bled like a stuck pig for 5 miles until I could pull over. (Props to Uesque for the gravel though...ouch!) Ever see burnt blood on a hot motor case? Haha. Anyways, I like the textile gloves with a little armor padding in them. Sure they look cool, but I see them standing up a lot better in a crash than just a piece of hyde, plus flying debris on the road seems to gravitate to my knuckles.

Not to hijack the thread but how long ago was the June bug Joker? I ride without a helmet and was expecting a rap all last summer and nothing. No June bug even in June!!!! I heard about the honeybees but where are the June bugs? Has anyone seen one in the last year?

It was in Oklahoma, two years ago. I live in CO now, and never see them up here, probably because it's dry. But that year they were bad...I remember wanting to keep my windshield on simply BECAUSE they were so bad. I've taken bees, june bugs and grasshoppers to the chest and arms way too many times to count. They sting like paintballs.

To be honest Adam I wear gloves more for dramatic affect than anything. I steer clear of cold weather rides, and gloves do help with grip on the grips. But I bought a pair of, get this, fingerless gloves from the U.S. Cavalry magazine that commando police units use. Do they protect my hands better, not really, but do they look like gloves a harley rider would wear, oooooh yea.

Here are what I think are the coolist motorcycle gloves, and the price certainly seems right.

It completely depends on the weather and what I'm doing. If I am being stupid or racing, Joe Rocket. It it's cold, I have some First Gear winter gloves. If it's cool, I have some.... I dunno what they are but they are nice and soft lined deer-skin leather. If it's hot, some Jersey gloves.

I always wear something though. Nothing's worse than a june-bug to the finger at 100mph!

I always wear AGV Sport gloves. The Tornado gloves have carbon in the fingers and knuckles plus double leather in some places to keep my hands safe.

Yellow deerskin work gloves. Less than $10 per pair, tougher than your mother-in-law and three times uglier.

Cortech Vice gloves. Cheap and they seem to work well.

...three times uglier.
Man those must be some extremely ugly gloves!

I have a summer and winter weight Olympia gloves. I tried some Duluth Trading company winter weight water proof kevlar work gloves but found they bunched up uncomfortably on long rides since they don't have the curve preformed in.

I should invest in some good gloves.

Might have to hit up chromekid on the gloves I was looking at.

I'll post them once I find them again - :P

I got some Power Trip US Army branded gloves off the clearance rack from Newenough for $25. Knuckle armor, thick leather, padding where it counts, and they are comfortable as hell. By far the best fitting gloves I've ever had.

I visit the local farm store and buy Carhart gloves. They come in mesh, regular, and insulated, and they last forever. What's more important, is that they're cheap! The same gloves I wear every day for about $16 at the farm store are almost $80 at a bike shop. What's more, the leather is much heavier and protects me better.

I have a pair of leather gloves with vents in the knuckles. They're good when it's really hot out. I can't remember what brand they are but they cost about $25 at a surplus store.
