I've been looking at helmets at many different places. I'm still not sure which one is the best helmet for the price. What do you guys think, is the best helmet (durability, weight etc..) and for the price.

A helmet that fits and is comfortable is the best helmet for the price.
That said, I found those qualities in my Scorpion EXO-700. A good mid-priced helmet with decent features. It has a comfortable liner and fits my roundish head well. YMMV
I have been looking for the right helmet and it depends on what you are looking for. If you do the half helmets look into Bell, particularly the drifter. If you are looking for a full face or something, sorry I can't help...
This site has lots of good reviews on various helmets. I based my helmet purchases last year on their reviews and bought a Scorpion EXO-400 for my wife and an HJC CL-SP for myself and we've been happy with both. They ran about $125 and $150.

anyone have good suggestions on "quieter" helmets. I put this in quotes, because from what I hear, no helmet is that quiet....

Find a helmet that fits your head and price. Then get some Etymotic ER 20 Ear Plugs. These are reusable earplugs that only reduce sound by 12 db, the average disposable foam earplug reduces by 30 db. At 12 db I find I can still hear sirens, my friend's extremely loud Yamaha when he blips it at 1/8 mile away, and conversations at stops with my helmet on. The only things that sneak up on me are some hybrids, and some luxury cars that have quiet tires.
