So this is for all the experienced riders, which do you guys think are better, leather or textile jackets/pants?

Both! ;)
I like the textile for summer weather. I like the way the leather stops the cold and wind. But if it's really wet & nasty I like my insulated riding suit!

I wear a textile with leather overlays. I have a Cortec GX-Air. It has a nice liner that is good down to the 40s. It has CE Armor in the shoulders, elbows, and back. It also has leather on the outside over the internal armor. Take out the liner and it makes a fairly good summer jacket.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good textile jacket? Will that protect as well as a leather jacket? Does the textile breath better than a perforated leather jacket? Any help is appreciated.

I guess I may be lucky in a sense, cause there was a time my wife went gear crazy and started aquiring riding gear we didn't even need at the time, but now, I'm sorta glad she did. Oh! Corse, she always bought it on sale or clearance, but I have enough riding jackets, I can choose depending on the weather. I got a great looking Joe Rocket Leather jacket for most cool or cloudy days. A Bright Yellow "First Gear" Mesh jacket for hot sunny days. A really warm textile ("Victory" M/C brand) coat that wind WILL NOT GO THRU! I love for below 30 riding, and "Frogtogs" rain gear in my storage bag for any rain I encounter.
It's nice to be able to choose. Better than just having one to live with. but, if I only had one to use, I would go with the Joe Rocket Leather. It's extremely well vented, has a liner, and it's the coolest looking jacket in the world. When I wear it, chicks mistake me for Tom Cruise. (just kidding):D
(sorry) had to edit for spelling.

Many of the textile jacket manufacturers make mesh jackets that are fully armored with ballistic nylon mesh panels that are nearly see through, with heavy grade fabric in the slide areas. Many also come with rain/wind resistant jacket inserts that easily are removed allowing the jacke to serve for both the cold mornings and hot afternoons. Check into Joe Rocket, FieldSheer, Olympia Motosport (my preference), TourMaster as well as other.
I've wore mine in 99 degree temperatures at 60% humidity in about a week ago for nearly 75 miles with plenty of stop lights, and while I was warm, I never felt uncomfortable.

I like the looks of it, does it breath well for hot days? Is it really waterproof? The waterproof part scares me because it makes me think air can't get through it if water can't. Thanks for any info.

Looking at another site's reviews, it recommends it for cold to mild days but not really hot ones. It has two good sized shoulder intake vents, two bicep vents, two chest vents and a large rear exhaust vent yet it is waterproof and doesn't allow a free flow of air to the skin. Haven't tried it myself but probably not the best for the scorchers, but it's ultimately up to you.
I'm personally strongly considering this jacket. It's waterproof, has removable armor, adjustable waist and arm width, removable liner, good pockets, bunch of vents, and is colorful & reflective (looking for a jacket like this), I think I'll just tough out the heat. Thanks for the suggestion!
For the review I was referencing, just remove the spaces.

For additional pictures of the jacket and pictures of the vents, again remove the spaces.

I haven't taken it out on hot days yet. I won't be able to tell you for awhile though.

the icon hooligan breathes very well but to make it worth a shit you have to change out armor in te back which is a piece of foam

Get a mesh jacket for the summer if its that hot in your area, and leather for the winter...The leather makes riding in 30 degree and below bearable if you layer up....the mesh is nice when its 100 outside and when leather would just plain suck....I would recommend both though

kneedraggers.com has some great deals.
I picked up an Icon Arc hyrbid textile/leather jacket. There are inlays of leather for added abrasion resistance in "critical" areas. Also CE approved body armor in back elbow and shoulders. There are plenty of vents, as well as a removable liner.
