Im going to post this here as i think this is the best place for this question, mods feel free to move if needed.

Im looking for a trailer for my vstar 650. Nothing fancy or shiny or anything like that, just want to be able to load up the bike and tow her behind my truck. Anyone of any advise or suggestions for me as i embark on this adventure? Thanks.

Do you want an enclosed trailer or open one?

I bought a 5x8 utility trailer from Tractor Supply Co. a couple years ago. It has the loading ramp, steel mesh floor and 13" tires. It works great for 4 wheelers and bikes. I think I paid $750 new with taxes and tags.

I trailered my motorcycle to an event one time in 46 years of riding. 100 miles from my destination I got a flat, unloaded the bike, dropped the trailer, rode the last 100 miles, went back with a new tire, someone stoled the trailer. Lesson learned. :D

My trailer is so old and beat up that I couldn't get anyone to steal it.

This was our anniversary weekend trip to Ohio. While she wanted to do a lot of riding, I was informed that our nice dinner out would be at a place where our boots weren't welcome. And since the Harley didn't have a hitch to tow the truck, we had to do it the other way around.

Have you looked at a wheel less carrier?

hitchcarriers and versahaul has a few good ones.

Mornin' Emd001,

About 25 years or so ago I built a flat-bed 4 x 8 Tilt-Bed Trailer Kit (Long-Chi), aka a J. C. Whitney & Co. special. :D Added tie-down D-Rings and a Motorcycle Center Rail w/stop. Upgraded to nicer fenders too. ;-) Gotta' say I really love this little trailer, as it's probably one of the few non-specific motorcycle things I ever built from (more or less) scratch that was really any good (has stood the test of time). I figure I've racked up about 20,000+ miles or so on it, going back and forth cross country, moving from one place to another, and bringing my bike along. Admitedly I haven't used it in years, and my wife is always after me to get rid of it. Never the less I still maintain it - just changed the wood floor(s) not too long ago. Guess it just reminds me of happy days out in the California High Desert putting around on Dirt Bikes and camping out (in peace) - no worries. ;-)

And here I thought the Volvo hubcaps were a classy touch.
