I've only ordered one item online partaining to my motorcycle,my helmet. I bought a THH helmet from Leatherup.com,(save yourself the trouble, don't do business with Leatherup.com)I was promised the product within 5 business days. To make the story very,VERY short,I didn't get the helmet until one month later exactly. Since then I'm very unsure of where to order new leathers and other important safe riding necessities. So what I'm wondering is this: Where have you all had success with in ordering motorcycle necessities? Any info would help alot, thanks!

I bought a jacket off Leatherup.com with no problems. However my favorite place to do business with online for gear and stuff is www.denniskirk.com . Hit up their clearance site. I bought my HJC helmet off there for $40 and saw the identical one to it at a local bike shop for $110.

I just entered the biking world a couple months ago and after changing my mind over and over about what gear I wanted I finally ordered a jacket, helmet, and gloves from a site called pro1powersports.com I actually went to some local motorcycle stores first to get my sizes right, but they were charging full retail- not in the best interest for my wallet. After surfing that site for a bit, I ended up contacting them because i couldn't find exactly what I wanted and they helped me find the style I was looking for. It turns out they were still loading product, so they had more product available, just not on their site yet. I couldn't have asked for better customer service; I think i spent about 30 minutes on the phone with someone and didn't feel rushed. I got my order about 4 days later through free ground shipping and have been riding since! Anyway, I know that just one experience, but as far as i could tell from everywhere I looked they had some of the cheaper prices and were very helpful, so I would recommend them to anyone else looking.

What's the sizing chart on the Nitro Racing Matrix boots (they are deffinatly priced right!) and/or the Nitro Techsport boots? Every time I buy boots they end up buying a different size than what I wore before. I usually wear a size 10.5-11 shoe but the last pair of boots I bought were 9.5's. I'm kicking around the idea about buying dedicated motorcycle boots instead of riding in my workboots. Hit me with a PM if you want.
Why doesn't anyone except for 1 company I found on Ebay (and they sold out of my size so I found another pair in my waist size but 36" length so they are getting altered, priced right though) sell pants that are both waist size and length for us short guys? :D

As for riding pants i too do not understand it either, I am a big guy but unlioke my jeans i have to buy riding pants with legs too long to get my waist size also...The MX/Enduro word is in my experience alot closer and thats why i wear Moose Expedition pants instead of matching Olympia Ranger 2 pants:D

Ya know that's the #1 reason that I don't have riding pants. What are you supposed to do with the extra 4", roll 'em up and duct tape 'em?

Leatherback: +1 on Dennis Kirk. Been with them for several years - no issues. Twisted throttle is OK, had issues on 1 return - they meade it right - just took a while. riderwearhouse.com and aerostitch.com have good reps.

Sorry, but that's wrong to go use a store to size you and then go buy the same product online.

I found a local business that does alterations so I'm going to take them there to see if they can wack a foot or 2 off them. Most (gulp) dress shops, women's clothing places or dry cleaners can point you in the right direction or look in the Yellow Pages. Some places will do leather, some won't, these are textile. I'll let you know how much it costs. I paid $53 for them so I'm still in the cheap.

But are they active members of the boards? nope I am here and get the exact same gear except i'll do what i can to help as a member rather than just a person on the phone:) We too have a bullet proof return policy in place:D

I would rather buy off of someone I know or kinda know if I can :)
I asked my Mom if she knew anyone who did alterations, my aunt does them. Sweet.

I have the opposite problem, I'm all legs. In order to get pants long enough, I have to do the Jethro Bodine rope around the waist and look like Charlie Chaplin in baggy pants. If I catch a strong crosswind in my rainsuit, I'm going to take off.

I know all about that problem just from the other side, I am 6'-1 and 300lbs. and i have a 32" inseam so to get pants to fit around my waist i have to order the right waist size but the leg length is 4" to long:lol:
It would be nice if any supplier of gear would follow your normal clothes sizing:mad:
as for reliable parts/accessories dealer well the best ones are the ones that are available for questions and are intoch with their buying public rather than a sterile webpage that has easy ordering....personal touch is still my most favorite.:D Just like me:D

I bet the pants I bought would be alright with you leg wise. :D
My aunt can't alter them :( I'll have to keep looking.

I am always here to help, If i can. Sadly though the motorcycle world does not size the same way as normal clothing manufacturers do:(
\
As for alterations i may be able to help with that, let me ask on my racing forum and see if the leather fixers on there can modify the pant legs for ya, if they can i'll forward their info to you:)

I do this a lot. Maybe if stores were cheaper I wouldn't. If its $5-10 I'll buy it at the store, anything more I will just wait 2 days on the free shipping and no sales tax I experiance at 90% of online stores :)

We just bought some items from a person via ebay, then their store. They only had a few items on ebay, but apparel and more in their store.
I'd have to say the customer service was the best I've ever had with online purchasing!
I asked them a questions via email one night and got a reply RIGHT back, in the evening! It wasn't automated either, it was from them!
Made our purchase and got it in 2 days!
Check them out..ebay user name bargainbikergear
their webstore is bargainbikergear.com
Ride safe, wear a helmet...it's a no-brainer!

The product from Fox Creek Leathers has been the best site to buy leather products. American made....I think in West Virginia.
It's not cheap, but if you've ever gone done and your leathers save a good portion of your skin.....price doesn't matter.
I tried a lot of sites as well....Fox Creek customer service will get you sized right.

I bought most of my bike gear on Ebay from a few different sellers. Very satisfied.
I bought my HJC helmet last year from metricbikes-superstore. They priced matched another, shadier website and I got a great deal!
I've also ordered from ridegear and bikerneeds despite reading many negative reviews about them. Shipping took a little longer than usual, but it was the holiday season.
(sorry I can't post links yet, just add www and com to all those sites)

Don't order from ridegear, I ordered a helmet 3 weeks ago and have yet to receive it. I've tried calling to cancel my order (can only be done by phone) and every time I automatically get put on hold and they hang up after 10 minutes. Tried emailing and calling all times of day with no luck.
STAY AWAY FROM RIDEGEAR.COM
