has anyone ever modified stock exhaust?

Why Yes,.... It's easy and quite common. Just pick out what manufacture pipes you want to use, get the one for your bike, put 'em on!
Of corse, quite often, you'll need to have the jets changed and on some models, it requires that you use a fuel comander moduel and have it "Mapped" for your bike, several makes of those too.

OH! you mean "Modify" your existing Stock exhaust?
I've heard of guys drilling out the baffles with a home made real long drill bit, I wouldn't do that, cause they won't sound like you thought you wanted anyway. Just get new ones, and you'll be happier in the long run.
