One, when my '05 FZ6 drops rpm quickly in first, second, or third gear, the engine sputters (kind of sounds like something is misfiring) as it drops past 5000-5500rpm. Is this a me problem (only been riding for a year) or a bike problem?

Two, on the same bike, I often get a massive vibration when I pull on the front brake. It is still a mystery to me why it happens. I thought it may be bcause I had the clutch in, half way out, I was in a certain gear, at a certain rpm, hitting the back brake, not hitting the back brake, but I still can't find a common cause. It just seems to happen every so often. Also, the vibration itself is not side to side. It's more of a rocking vibration up and down the front fork. Any ideas what I/my bike is doing wrong?

thanks

First answer, it's not a you problem. Something is wrong with the bike. Try changing the plugs first before divin' in to anything too deep. If the plugs don't help it's possible you got some bad gas or the carbs are out of adjustment or need cleaned.

Second answer, again it's not you there is somethin' wrong. Most likely you have a warped rotor in the front. Either the caliper was/is stickin' or the rotor got overheated. You can check it with a dial indicator but most likely you don't have one of those. You can also take it off but be warned the bolts holding it to the wheel are real tight and generally locked on there with a chemical thread locking compound. Best way I found to take them off is put a little heat to where they thread in, with the wheel off the bike and the valve guts removed from the valve stem for the tire, and slowly try to wrench them off. Your best bet is to take it to the shop for that problem and maybe both if you aren't mechanically inclined. Check the mounting bolts for the caliper also.

Isn't the 05 fuel injected? That would rule out carb trouble, but open a whole new can of electronic worms. Does the sputter happen when you have the clutch out or in? My bike will do that if you crack the throttle a little while decelerating, I usually do it on purpose because I like the popping noises.

As for the brakes, you may have one side not working properly also, I'd leave that to a professional.
