I have a 1984 Honda CB700SC that I recently purchased. The previous owner had engine problems and had removed the engine and had it repaired, but then lost interest and sold it to me to complete. I installed the engine and have gotten the bike running, but now I am noticing a noise coming from the shaft or front drive when I push the bike.
Specifically this noise happens when the bike is in neutral and is rolling forward or backward. It is a Click-Click-Click sound and sounds like gears clicking teeth or something. This sound is also present when the bike is in Neutral but the clutch is depressed. However, when the bike is in gear and the clutch depressed it does not make this noise. Any ideas? I have put over 100 miles on the bike since the rebuild, and have had no other issues except that I am worried about that noise. Did I miss a step in reinstalling the engine? Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
